Henry Augustus George Mountjoy Heneage Upton, 5th Viscount Templeton was born on 12 August 1894.2 He was the son of Henry Edward Montagu Dorington Clotworthy Upton, 4th Viscount Templetown and Lady Evelyn Georgiana Finch-Hatton.2 He married, firstly, Alleyne Conran, daughter of Henry Lewes Conran, on 3 August 1916.3,2 He married, secondly, Margaret Violet Louisa Clowes, daughter of Lt.-Col. Henry Arthur Clowes and Louisa Lucy Littleton, on 6 January 1975.1 He died on 10 February 1981 at age 86.3
He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.2 He was educated at Magdalen College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.2 He gained the rank of officer in the Royal East Kent Mounted Rifles.2 He held the office of Member of Kirkcudbrightshire County Council.2 He succeeded as the 6th Baron Templetown, co. Antrim [I., 1776] on 30 September 1939.2 He succeeded as the 5th Viscount Templetown, co. Antrim [I., 1806] on 30 September 1939.2 On his death his titles became extinct.4
