Grissell Hamilton was the daughter of John Hamilton, 4th of Orbiston and Christian Dalzell.2 A contract for the marriage of Grissell Hamilton and Hugh Sanders was signed.1 She died, before the marriage contract was completed.1

Alexander Hamilton, 2nd of Dalzell was the son of James Hamilton, 1st of Dalzell and Jean Henderson.2 He married Bethia Henderson, daughter of Sir John Henderson, 5th of Fordell and Margaret Menteith.1 He died in January 1691.1
He was Commissioner to raise three regiments of Lanarkshire militia in 1668.1 In 1668 Dalzell was assigned him and confirmed in 1672 by his half-brother Robert Hamilton of Monkland.1
