Margaret Menteith was baptised on 28 April 1611.2 She was the daughter of William Menteith of Randiford and Jean Bruce.3 She married Sir John Henderson, 5th of Fordell, son of Sir John Henderson, 4th of Fordell and Agnes Balfour, on 7 February 1625.1 She died on 2 April 1653 at age 41.4

Sir John Henderson of Fordell, 1st Bt. was born in 1626 at Fordell, Fife, Scotland.2,3 He was the son of Sir John Henderson, 5th of Fordell and Margaret Menteith.4 He was baptised on 26 June 1626.3 He married Margaret Hamilton, daughter of Sir James Hamilton, 6th of Orbiston and Jean Houstoun, in October 1657.1 He died on 26 January 1683 at Fordell, Fife, Scotland.1
He was created 1st Baronet Henderson, of Fordell, co. Fife [Nova Scotia] on 15 July 1664.1
