George Augustus Frederick Baillie was born on 31 July 1833.1 He was the son of Sir William Baillie of Polkemmet, 1st Bt. and Mary Lyon Dennistoun.1 He married Mary Gertrude Sadler, daughter of Captain Benjamin Peyton Sadler, on 16 February 1871.1 He died on 7 April 1882 at age 48.1
He gained the rank of Captain in the Haddington Artillery Militia.1
