     Sir Charles Dalrymple of Newhailes, 1st Bt. was born on 15 October 1839.2 He was the son of Sir Charles Dalrymple-Fergusson of Kilkerran, 5th Bt. and Helen Boyle.3 He married Alicia Mary Hunter Blair, daughter of Sir Edward Hunter Blair of Blairquhan and Dunskey, 4th Bt. and Elizabeth Wauchope, on 7 April 1874.3 He died on 20 June 1916 at age 76.3
     He was a practising barrister-at-law.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for County Bute between 1868 and 1885.2 He held the office of Junior Lord of the Treasury in 1885.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Ipswich between 1886 and 1906.2 He was created 1st Baronet Dalrymple, of Newhailes, co.      John Adam Dalrymple-Fergusson was born on 7 May 1845.1 He was the son of Sir Charles Dalrymple-Fergusson of Kilkerran, 5th Bt. and Helen Boyle.2 He married Sarah Gilbert, daughter of Joseph Gilbert, on 13 July 1871.1 He died on 5 December 1920 at age 75.1
     He gained the rank of Colonel in the Rifle Brigade.1 He was commander of the Provincial Battalion Rifle Brigade between 1901 and 1902.1 He was Professor of Tactics, Military Law and Administration at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, EnglandG.1

     Sarah Gilbert was the daughter of Joseph Gilbert.2 She married John Adam Dalrymple-Fergusson, son of Sir Charles Dalrymple-Fergusson of Kilkerran, 5th Bt. and Helen Boyle, on 13 July 1871.1 She died on 25 May 1936.1
     From 13 July 1871, her married name became Dalrymple-Fergusson.
