     John Leslie, 9th Earl of Rothes was born in 1675.¹ He was the son of Charles Hamilton, 5th Earl of Haddington and Margaret Leslie, Countess of Rothes.² He married Lady Jean Hay, daughter of John Hay, 2nd Marquess of Tweeddale and Lady Mary Maitland, on 29 April 1697.³ He died on 4 September 1721.²
     He was given the name of John Hamilton at birth.² He succeeded as the 9th Earl of Rothes [S., 1458] on 20 August 1700.³ He succeeded as the 9th Lord Leslie [S., 1445] on 20 August 1700.³ He held the office of Lord Privy Seal [Scotland] from 1704 to 1705.² He was appointed Representative Peer [Scotland] between 1708 and 1710.² He fought in the Battle of Sheriffmuir in 1715.² He gained the rank of commander in 1715 in the Horse Volunteers.² He held the office of Vice-Admiral of Scotland in 1715.² He held the office of Lord High Commissioner to the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland between 1715 and 1721.² He was appointed Representative Peer [Scotland] between 1715 and 1722.² He held the office of Governor of Stirling Castle from February 1717/18 to 1722.²

     Lady Jean Hay was the daughter of John Hay, 2nd Marquess of Tweeddale and Lady Mary Maitland.¹ She married John Leslie, 9th Earl of Rothes, son of Charles Hamilton, 5th Earl of Haddington and Margaret Leslie, Countess of Rothes, on 29 April 1697.¹ She died on 4 September 1731.¹
     From 29 April 1697, her married name became Leslie.¹ After her marriage, Lady Jean Hay was styled as Countess of Rothes on 20 August 1700.

     John Leslie, 10th Earl of Rothes was born in 1698.² He was the son of John Leslie, 9th Earl of Rothes and Lady Jean Hay.¹ He married, firstly, Hannah Howard, daughter of Matthew Howard, in 1741.¹ He married, secondly, Mary Lloyd, daughter of Gresham Lloyd and Mary Holt, on 27 June 1763.¹ He died in 1767.¹
     He succeeded as the 10th Lord Leslie [S., 1445] on 4 September 1721.³ He succeeded as the 10th Earl of Rothes [S., 1458] on 4 September 1721.³ He was appointed Representative Peer [Scotland] from 1723 to 1734.¹ He gained the rank of Major-General in January 1742/43.¹ He was appointed Representative Peer [Scotland] between 1747 and 1767.¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant-General in 1751 in the staff in Ireland.¹ He was appointed Knight, Order of the Thistle (K.T.) in 1753.¹ He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Ireland] in 1756.¹ He was New Tag Ballinbreich.¹ In 1763 Leslie House was destroyed by fire.¹

     Hannah Howard was the daughter of Matthew Howard.¹ She married John Leslie, 10th Earl of Rothes, son of John Leslie, 9th Earl of Rothes and Lady Jean Hay, in 1741.³ She died in 1761.
     After her marriage, Hannah Howard was styled as Countess of Rothes in 1741. From 1741, her married name became Leslie.³

     Matthew Howard lived at Thorpe, Norfolk, England^G.¹

     Mary Lloyd was the daughter of Gresham Lloyd and Mary Holt.¹ She married John Leslie, 10th Earl of Rothes, son of John Leslie, 9th Earl of Rothes and Lady Jean Hay, on 27 June 1763.¹ She married Bennet Langton, son of Reverend George Langton and Diana Turnor, in 1770.¹ She died on 7 September 1785.¹
     After her marriage, Mary Lloyd was styled as Countess of Rothes on 27 June 1763. From 27 June 1763, her married name became Leslie.¹ From 1770, her married name became Langton.¹

     George William Hope was born on 4 July 1808.¹ He was the son of General Hon. Sir Alexander Hope and Georgiana Brown.¹ He married Hon. Caroline Georgiana Montagu-Scott, daughter of Henry James Montagu-Scott, 2nd Baron Montagu of Boughton and Hon. Jane Margaret Douglas, on 5 March 1836.¹ He died on 18 October 1863 at age 55.¹
     He was educated at Harrow School, Harrow, London, England^G.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Windsor.¹ He lived at Luffness, East Lothian, Scotland^G.¹

     Elizabeth Hastings, Baroness Hastings was born on 23 March 1731.³ She was the daughter of Theophilus Hastings, 9th Earl of Huntingdon and Lady Selina Shirley.¹ She married John Rawdon, 1st Earl of Moira, son of Sir John Rawdon, 3rd Bt. and Dorothea Levinge, on 26 February 1752.¹ She died on 11 April 1808 at age 77.¹
     From 26 February 1752, her married name became Rawdon.⁴ She succeeded as the 12th Baroness Hastings [E., 1461] on 2 October 1789, suo jure.⁵ She succeeded as the 13th Baroness Moleyns [E., 1445] on 2 October 1789.⁵ She succeeded as the 16th Baroness Botreaux [E., 1368] on 2 October 1789, suo jure.¹ She succeeded as the 11th Baroness Hastings, of Hungerford [E., 1482] on 2 October 1789, suo jure.⁵ She succeeded as the 15th Baroness Hungerford [E., 1426] on 2 October 1789.⁵

     Mildred King was the daughter of Lorraine King.¹ She married Lt.-Col. Ronald Townshend Fellowes, 2nd Baron Ailwyn, son of Ailwyn Edward Fellowes, 1st Baron Ailwyn and Hon. Agatha Eleanor Augusta Jolliffe, on 21 August 1916.¹ She died on 9 July 1938.²
     From 21 August 1916, her married name became Fellowes.¹ After her marriage, Mildred King was styled as Baroness Ailwyn on 23 September 1924.

     John Leslie, 11th Earl of Rothes was born on 19 October 1744.³ He was the son of John Leslie, 10th Earl of Rothes and Hannah Howard.³ He married Jane Maitland, daughter of Captain Thomas Maitland, on 4 April 1768.³ He died in 1773, without issue.³
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.³ He succeeded as the 11th Earl of Rothes [S., 1458] in 1767.¹ He succeeded as the 11th Lord Leslie [S., 1445] in 1767.¹
