Sir Thomas Kerr of Cavers was born circa 1613 at Cavers, Roxburghshire, Scotland.2 He was the son of George Kerr of Cavers and Euphame Bruce.2 He married Grizel Halkett, daughter of Sir Robert Halkett of Pitfirrane and Margaret Murray. He married Agnes Riddell, daughter of Sir William Riddell and Jean Anstruther.2

Sir Patrick Hume, 1st Bt. was the son of Sir Patrick Hume of Polwarth and Julian Kerr.2 He married Christian Hamilton, daughter of Alexander Hamilton of Innerwick and Isabel Home, before 1640.3 He died in April 1648.2
