     He was an aircraft pilot in 1932.¹ He lived in 1932 at 50 Hereford Road, Paddington, London, England^G.¹

     Grisell Baillie was born on 4 April 1822.¹ She was the daughter of George Baillie of Jerviswoode and Mellerstain and Mary Pringle.¹ She was baptised on 6 June 1822 at Earlston, Berwickshire, Scotland^G.² She died on 20 December 1891 at age 69.¹
     She was granted the rank of an earl's daughter.³

     Hon. Grizel Hume was born on 25 December 1665 at Redbraes Castle, Berwickshire, Scotland.^3,4 She was the daughter of Patrick Hume, 1st Earl of Marchmont and Grizel Ker.^1,3 She married George Baillie of Jerviswoode and Mellerstain, son of Robert Baillie of Jerviswoode and Rachel Johnston, on 17 September 1692.³ She died on 6 December 1746 at age 80 at Mellerstain, Roxburghshire, Scotland.^4,5
     From 17 September 1692, her married name became Baillie.^6,3

     Patrick Hume, 1st Earl of Marchmont was born on 13 January 1641 at Redbraess, Peebles-shire, Scotland^G.³ He was the son of Sir Patrick Hume, 1st Bt. and Christian Hamilton.³ He married Grizel Ker, daughter of Sir Thomas Kerr of Cavers and Grizel Halkett, on 29 January 1660.¹ He died on 2 August 1724 at age 83 at Marchmont House, Berwickshire, Scotland^G, from a fever.⁴
     He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Hume, of Polwarth [S., 1625] in April 1648.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Berwickshire between 1669 and 1674.¹ Between 1675 and 1679 he was held in custody twice by reason of his hostility to the Government and would have been taken a third time for suspected involvement in the Rye House Plot of 1683 but that he went into hiding and ultimately fled to the Low Countries; he returned and again was obliged to go into hiding for his part in Argyll's rising on behalf of the Duke of Monmouth and a Protestant succession in 1685, hence his titles forfeit, though they were restored to him in 1690 on his having returned to British shores again in the train of HM William III after having spent the time since his being wanted in Ireland, France, Geneva and Holland.¹ They also had other issue.¹ He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) (Scotland) in 1690.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Berwickshire in 1689/90.¹ He was created 1st Lord Polwarth [Scotland] on 26 December 1690, with special remainder to the heirs male of his body and the heirs of those heirs.¹ He held the office of Lord Chancellor of Scotland between 1696 and 1702.¹ He was created 1st Viscount Blasonberrie [Scotland] on 23 April 1697.¹ He was created 1st Lord Polwarth of Polwarth, Rebraes and Greenlaw [Scotland] on 23 April 1697, with special remainder to his heirs male whatsoever.¹ He was created 1st Earl of Marchmont [Scotland] on 23 April 1697.¹

     Robert Baillie of Jerviswoode was born in 1623.³ He was the son of George Baillie of Jerviswoode and Anne Burnet.^4,3 He married Rachel Johnston, daughter of Archibald Johnston, Lord Wariston and Helen Hay.³ He died on 24 December 1684, executed for treason.⁵

     Rachel Baillie was the daughter of Hon. George Baillie of Jerviswoode and Mellerstain and Eliza Andrews.¹ She died, unmarried.¹
