     Sir Gideon Baillie of Lochend, 1st Bt. was baptised on 29 February 1616 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.1,2 He was the son of Sir James Baillie and Jean Nisbet.3,1 He married Magdalen Carnegie, daughter of David Carnegie, Lord Carnegie and Lady Margaret Hamilton, circa 17 February 1636.1 He died on 30 August 1640 at age 24, killed at the blowing up of Douglas Castle.1
     He was created 1st Baronet Baillie, of Lochend, co. Haddington [Nova Scotia] on 21 November 1636.1

     Sir James Baillie was born circa 1585.2 He married Jean Nisbet.3 He died on 24 March 1636.2
     He held the office of Receiver of the Crown [Scotland].1 He lived in 1614 at Lochend, East Lothian, ScotlandG, which he purchased for 1700 marks.1

     Magdalen Carnegie was the daughter of David Carnegie, Lord Carnegie and Lady Margaret Hamilton.3 She married, firstly, Sir Gideon Baillie of Lochend, 1st Bt., son of Sir James Baillie and Jean Nisbet, circa 17 February 1636.3 She married, secondly, Sir John Crawfurd of Kilbirnie, 1st Bt., son of John Crawfurd of Kilbirnie and Lady Mary Cuninghame, after 1640.3
     From 17 February 1636, her married name became Baillie.3 From after 1640, her married name became Crawfurd.3

Sir Hew Crawfurd, 2nd Bt.1

     Sir Hew Crawfurd, 2nd Bt. was the son of Hew Crawfurd and Mary Greenshields.1 He married Robina Pollock, daughter of Captain John Pollock and Ann Lockhart.1 He died on 1 July 1794.1
     He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Crawfurd, of Kilbirnie, co. Ayr [N.S., 1628] on 19 July 1765, assuming this baronetcy after being declared heir of the 1st Baronet.1 He lived at Jordanhill, Renfrewshire, ScotlandG.1

     Sir James Baillie, 2nd Bt. was the son of Sir Gideon Baillie of Lochend, 1st Bt. and Magdalen Carnegie.1 He died before 1648, without issue.1
     He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Baillie, of Lochend, co. Haddington [N.S., 1636] on 30 August 1640.1
     On his death, his baronetcy became extinct.1

     Margaret Baillie was born circa 1621.2 She was the daughter of Sir Gideon Baillie of Lochend, 1st Bt. and Magdalen Carnegie.1 She married by contract, firstly, Sir John Colquhoun of Luss, 2nd Bt., son of Sir John Colquhoun of Luss, 1st Bt. and Lady Lilias Graham, on 17 February 1636.1
     From 17 February 1636, her married name became Colquhoun.1

     Sir John Colquhoun of Luss, 2nd Bt. was the son of Sir John Colquhoun of Luss, 1st Bt. and Lady Lilias Graham.2 A contract for the marriage of Sir John Colquhoun of Luss, 2nd Bt. and Margaret Baillie was signed on 17 February 1636.1 He died on 11 April 1676.3
     He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Colquhoun, of Luss [N.S., 1625] circa 1650.1 In 1652 he acquired Balloch from the Duke of Lennox and acquired Lochend by marriage.3 In 1676 he sold the estate of Lochend, Haddington.1

     Sir John Baird, Lord Newbyth was baptised on 10 September 1620.1 He was the son of James Baird and Bethia Dempster.1 He married Margaret Hay, daughter of Hon. Sir William Hay and Anna Murray, before 1648.1 He died on 27 April 1698 at age 77 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, ScotlandG.1
     He was admitted to an Advocate in June 1647.1 In 1660 he is said to have been created a baronet on the restoration, but this is doubtful.1 He held the office of Lord Justiciary in 1661.1 He held the office of Lyon Depute on 15 August 1663.1 He was styled as Lord Newbyth [Scottish Law Lord] in 1664.1 He held the office of Lord of Session [Scotland] from 1664 to 1681.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Aberdeenshire [Scotland] from 1665 to 1667.1 He sold the estate of Byth, Aberdeenshire, and bought properties in Haddington and Edinburgh, which became the barony of Newbyth.1 He held the office of Lord of Session [Scotland] from 1689 to 1698.1 He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.2
