     Lady Jane Hay was the daughter of Field Marshal George Hay, 8th Marquess of Tweeddale and Lady Susan Montagu.^2,1 She married General Sir Richard Chambre Hayes Taylor, son of Rev. Hon. Henry Edward Taylour and Marianne St. Leger, on 9 June 1863.¹ She died on 13 December 1920.¹
     From 9 June 1863, her married name became Taylor.¹

     General Sir Richard Chambre Hayes Taylor was born on 19 March 1819.¹ He was the son of Rev. Hon. Henry Edward Taylour and Marianne St. Leger.¹ He married Lady Jane Hay, daughter of Field Marshal George Hay, 8th Marquess of Tweeddale and Lady Susan Montagu, on 9 June 1863.¹ He died on 6 December 1904 at age 85.¹
     He gained the rank of Colonel in the Cameron Highlanders.¹ He was the Governor between 1883 and 1886 at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England^G.¹ He was Adjutant-General.¹ He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of the Bath (G.C.B.)¹

     George Hay, 7th Marquess of Tweeddale was born in 1753.³ He was the son of John Hay and Dorothy Hayhurst.¹ He married Lady Hannah Charlotte Maitland, daughter of James Maitland, 7th Earl of Lauderdale and Mary Turner Lombe, on 18 April 1785.³ He died on 9 August 1804 at Verdun, France^G.³
     He succeeded as the 15th Lord Hay of Yester [S., 1488] on 16 November 1787.³ He succeeded as the 7th Marquess of Tweeddale [S., 1694] on 16 November 1787.³ He succeeded as the 7th Earl of Gifford [S., 1694] on 16 November 1787.³ He succeeded as the 7th Viscount of Walden [S., 1694] on 16 November 1787.³ He succeeded as the 8th Earl of Tweeddale [S., 1646] on 16 November 1787.³ He held the office of Burgess of Edinburgh in 1788.³ He gained the rank of officer in the Honourable East India Company Navy.³ He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Haddingtonshire between 1794 and 1804.³ He held the office of Representative Peer [Scotland] between 1796 and 1804.³ He was imprisoned with his wife in the fortress of Verdun by Napoleon.³

     Lady Hannah Charlotte Maitland was baptised on 5 November 1762 at Ratho, Midlothian, Scotland^G.² She was the daughter of James Maitland, 7th Earl of Lauderdale and Mary Turner Lombe.^1,3 She married George Hay, 7th Marquess of Tweeddale, son of John Hay and Dorothy Hayhurst, on 18 April 1785.³ She died on 8 May 1804 at age 41.³
     Her married name became Hay. After her marriage, Lady Hannah Charlotte Maitland was styled as Marchioness of Tweeddale on 16 November 1787. He was imprisoned with his wife in the fortress of Verdun by Napoleon.⁴

     David Alexander Leslie-Melville, Lord Balgonie was born on 26 January 1954.¹ He was the son of Alexander Robert Leslie-Melville, 16th Earl of Leven and Susan Steuart Menzies.¹ He married Julia Clare Critchley, daughter of Lt.-Col. Ian Ranald Critchley and Isabel Mary Hamilton, in 1981.¹ He died on 14 February 2007 at age 53 at Verbier, Switzerland^G, killed while skiing.³
     He was styled as Lord Balgonie between 1954 and 2007.¹ He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England^G.¹ He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Nairn in 1968.¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant and Acting Captain in 1975 in the Queen's Own Highlanders.¹ He was director of Wood Conservation Ltd in 1984.¹ He was director of Treske Ltd in 1996.¹ He lived in 2003 at Glenferness House, Nairnshire, Scotland^G.¹

     Brig.-Gen. Lord William Hay was born after 1668. He was the son of John Hay, 2nd Marquess of Tweeddale and Lady Mary Maitland.¹ He married Margaret Hay, daughter of John Hay of Linplum, younger and Jean Foulis, on 5 December 1701 at Crichton, Midlothian, Scotland^G.² He died on 31 October 1723.¹
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the 3rd Foot Guards.¹ He lived at Newhall, Haddington, East Lothian, Scotland^G.¹

     Margaret Hay was born on 30 June 1686.¹ She was the daughter of John Hay of Linplum, younger and Jean Foulis.¹ She married Brig.-Gen. Lord William Hay, son of John Hay, 2nd Marquess of Tweeddale and Lady Mary Maitland, on 5 December 1701 at Crichton, Midlothian, Scotland^G.¹ She died on 3 October 1758 at age 72.¹

     William Fowke lived at Brewood, Staffordshire, England^G.¹

     Sir James Hay of Linplum, 1st Bt. was the son of Hon. Sir William Hay and Anna Murray.¹ He married by contract, firstly, Jean Scott, daughter of Patrick Scott of Tanlawhill, on 4 February 1661.¹ He married, secondly, Anna Livingston on 27 April 1682.¹ He died in 1704.¹
     He was created 1st Baronet Hay, of Linplum [Nova Scotia] on 26 March 1667.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Haddington between 1669 and 1674.¹

     Hon. Sir William Hay was born after 1596. He was the son of James Hay, 7th Lord Hay of Yester and Lady Margaret Kerr.^1,2 A contract for the marriage of Hon. Sir William Hay and Anna Murray was signed from 9 November 1618 to 18 November 1618.² He died before 18 April 1648.²
     On 14 September 1611 he had a charter of his lands.² He lived at Linplum, Scotland^G.¹
