     Sir Winston Churchill was born in 1620.² He was the son of John Churchill and Sarah Winston.¹ He married Elizabeth Drake, daughter of Sir John Drake and Hon. Eleanor Boteler, in May 1643.² He died in 1688.³
     He was educated at St. John's College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G.³ He gained the rank of Captain between 1639 and 1646 in the King's Horse.^1,4 He was admitted to the Bar in 1652.⁵ He wrote the book Divi Britannici: Being a remark upon the lives of all the kings of this isle, published 1660.⁵ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Tory) for Weymouth between 1661 and 1679.^1,6 He held the office of Commissioner of the Court of Claims and Explanations [Ireland] between 1662 and 1668.² He was appointed Knight in 1664.⁶ He held the office of Junior Clerk Comptroller to the Board of Green Cloth between 1664 and 1679.⁶ He was appointed Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.)⁶ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Tory) for Lyme between 1685 and 1688.⁷
     He was an ardent Royalist throughout his life.¹ He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.⁸
     

     John Churchill was born circa 1595. He married Sarah Winston, daughter of Sir Henry Winston, in 1618 at St. Stephen Walbrook, London, England.¹
     He held the office of Deputy Registrar of Chancery before 1639.² He lived at Minterne, Dorset, England^G.³ He was admitted to Middle Temple.²

     Sarah Winston is the daughter of Sir Henry Winston.² She married John Churchill in 1618 at St. Stephen Walbrook, London, England.¹
     From 1618, her married name became Churchill.¹

     Elizabeth Drake is the daughter of Sir John Drake and Hon. Eleanor Boteler.¹ She married Sir Winston Churchill, son of John Churchill and Sarah Winston, in May 1643.²

     Sir John Drake was the son of John Drake and Dorothy Button. He married Hon. Eleanor Boteler, daughter of John Boteler, 1st Baron Boteler of Brantfield and Elizabeth Villiers, on 18 May 1616.² He died in 1636.²
     He lived at Ashe, Devon, England^G.¹

     Sir John Drake, 1st Bt. was born in 1625. He was the son of Sir John Drake and Hon. Eleanor Boteler.^1,2 He married, firstly, Jane Yonge, daughter of Sir John Yonge, 1st Bt. and Elizabeth Strode. He married, secondly, Dionysia Strode, daughter of Sir Richard Strode and Elizabeth Earle. He died in 1669.
     He gained the title of 1st Baronet Drake.¹ He lived at Ashe, Devon, England^G.¹

     Hon. Eleanor Boteler was the daughter of John Boteler, 1st Baron Boteler of Brantfield and Elizabeth Villiers.² She married Sir John Drake, son of John Drake and Dorothy Button, on 18 May 1616.² She died on 2 October 1666.²
     She was also known as Helen Boteler.² From 18 May 1616, her married name became Drake.²

     Lady Alice Moore was the daughter of Henry Moore, 1st Earl of Drogheda and Hon. Alice Spencer.¹ She married, firstly, Henry Hamilton, 2nd Earl of Clanbrassill, son of James Hamilton, 1st Earl of Clanbrassill and Lady Anne Carey, in May 1667.² She married, secondly, John Hamilton, 2nd Lord Bargany, son of John Hamilton, 1st Lord Bargany and Lady Jean Douglas, in September 1677.^1,3 She died on 25 December 1677 at Roscommon House, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland^G, without issue.¹
     After her marriage, Lady Alice Moore was styled as Countess of Clanbrassill in May 1667. From May 1667, her married name became Hamilton.¹ She gained the title of Lady Bargeny in September 1677.

     John Leveson-Gower, 1st Earl Gower was born on 10 August 1694.³ He was the son of John Leveson-Gower, 1st Baron Gower of Stittenham and Lady Catherine Manners.³ He married, firstly, Lady Evelyn Pierrepont, daughter of Evelyn Pierrepont, 1st Duke of Kingston-upon-Hull and Lady Mary Feilding, on 13 March 1711/12.³ He married, secondly, Penelope Stonhouse, daughter of Sir John Stonhouse, 3rd Bt. and Penelope Dashwood, on 31 October 1733 at St. George's Church, Queen's Square, London, England^G.⁴ He married, thirdly, Lady Mary Tufton, daughter of Thomas Tufton, 6th Earl of Thanet and Lady Catherine Cavendish, on 16 May 1736.⁵ He died on 25 December 1754 at age 60.¹
     He succeeded as the 6th Baronet Gower [E., 1620] on 31 August 1709.⁵ He succeeded as the 2nd Baron Gower of Stittenham, co. York [G.B., 1703] on 31 August 1709.⁵ He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1742.³ He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Staffordshire between 1742 and 1754.³ He held the office of Lord Privy Seal from 1742 to 1743.³ He held the office of Lord Privy Seal between 1744 and 1754.³ He was created 1st Viscount Trentham, co. Stafford [Great Britain] on 8 July 1746.⁵ He was created 1st Earl Gower [Great Britain] on 8 July 1746.⁵

     Henrietta Churchill, Duchess of Marlborough was born on 19 July 1681.³ She was the daughter of John Churchill, 1st Duke of Marlborough and Sarah Jenyns.¹ She was baptised on 29 July 1681 at St. Martin-in-the-Fields Church, Covent Garden, London, England^G.³ She married Francis Godolphin, 2nd Earl of Godolphin, son of Sidney Godolphin, 1st Earl of Godolphin and Margaret Blagge, on 23 April 1698.¹ She died on 24 October 1733 at age 52.⁴ She was buried on 9 November 1733 at Palace of Westminster, Westminster, London, England^G.⁴
     Her married name became Godolphin. After her marriage, Henrietta Churchill, Duchess of Marlborough was styled as Countess of Godolphin in 1712.³ She succeeded as the 2nd Baroness Churchill of Sandridge, co. Hertford [E., 1685] on 9 August 1722, suo jure.⁵ She succeeded as the 2nd Duchess of Marlborough [E., 1702] on 9 August 1722, suo jure. She succeeded as the 2nd Marchioness of Blandford [E., 1702] on 9 August 1722, suo jure. She succeeded as the 2nd Countess of Marlborough, co. Wilts [E., 1689] on 9 August 1722, suo jure.
