Henry FitzJames, Duke of Albemarle was born illegitimately on 6 August 1673.1 He was the son of James II Stuart, King of Great Britain and Arabella Churchill.1 He married Marie Gabrielle d'Audibert, Comtesse de Lussan, daughter of Jean d'Audibert, Comte de Lussan and Marie Françoise Raimond, on 20 July 1700.2 He died on 16 December 1702 at age 29 at Bagnols, Languedoc, FranceG, without surviving male issue.2,3
He fought in the Battle of the Boyne in 1690.2 He gained the rank of Colonel in 1690 in the a Regiment of Infantry.2 In 1695 he was attainted.2 Henry FitzJames, Duke of Albemarle also went by the nick-name of 'the Grand Prior'.3 He was styled as 1st Baron of Romney [England] on 13 January 1696, created by his father, King James II, while in exile.2,1 He was styled as 1st Duke of Albemarle [England] on 13 January 1696, created by his father, King James II, while in exile.2,1 He was styled as 1st Earl of Rochford [England] on 13 January 1696, created by his father, King James II, while in exile.2,1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-General and Admiral in 1702 in the France.2
