     Hon. Margaret Audley was born in 1539.⁴ She was the daughter of Thomas Audley, 1st and last Baron Audley of Walden and Elizabeth Grey.^1,5 She married, firstly, Sir Henry Dudley, son of John Dudley, 1st Duke of Northumberland and Jane Guilford, before 1557.¹ She married, secondly, Thomas Howard, 4th Duke of Norfolk, son of Henry Howard, Earl of Surrey and Lady Frances de Vere, from 10 December 1558 to 2 March 1588/89.^1,6 She died on 10 January 1563/64.⁶
     From before 1557, her married name became Dudley.¹ After her marriage, Hon. Margaret Audley was styled as Duchess of Arundel. From from 10 December 1558 to 2 March 1588/89, her married name became Howard.

     Thomas Howard, 1st Earl of Suffolk was born on 24 August 1561.³ He was the son of Thomas Howard, 4th Duke of Norfolk and Hon. Margaret Audley.¹ He married, firstly, Mary Dacre, daughter of Thomas Dacre, 4th Lord Dacre (of Gilsland) and Elizabeth Leyburne, before 9 May 1577.⁴ He married, secondly, Katherine Knyvett, daughter of Sir Henry Knyvett and Elizabeth Stumpe, circa 1583.⁴ He died on 28 May 1626 at age 64.³
     He was educated at St. John's College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.⁴ He gained the rank of Captain in 1588 in the Golden Lion, against the Spanish Armada.⁴ He was appointed Knight in July 1588.⁴ In 1591 he commmanded the squadron in the Azores in which Sir Richard Grenville was lost aboard the Revenge.⁴ He fought in the Cadiz Expedition in 1596, as Vice-Admiral.⁴ He fought in the Azores Expedition in 1597, as Vice-Admiral.⁴ He was appointed Knight, Order of the Garter (K.G.) in 1597.⁴ He was created 1st Lord Howard de Walden [England by writ] on 5 December 1597.¹ He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire and Isle of Ely between 1598 and 1629.⁴ He gained the rank of Captain-General and Admiral of the Fleet in the Downs in 1599.⁴ He held the office of High Steward of Cambridge University between 1601 and 1614.⁴ He held the office of Constable of the Tower of London from February 1600/1 to March 1600/1.⁴ He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1603.⁴ He held the office of Lord Chamberlain between 1603 and 1614.⁴ He was created 1st Earl of Suffolk [England] on 21 July 1603.³ He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Suffolk in 1605.⁴ He was Joint Commissioner for the office of Earl Marshal, where he was involved in revealing and trying the Gunpowder Plot in 1605.⁴ He was Captain of the Gentlemen Pensioners between 1605 and 1614.⁴ He held the office of Commissioner of Treasury between 1612 and 1614.⁴ He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Dorset in 1613.⁴ He held the office of Lord High Treasurer between 1614 and 1618, when he was relieved for peculation.⁴ He held the office of High Steward of Essex between 1615 and 1625.⁴

     Ralph de Cromwell, 1st Lord Cromwell was the son of Ralph de Cromwell and Anice de Bellers.² He married Maud de Bernake, daughter of John de Bernake and Joan Marmion, before 20 June 1366.² He died on 27 August 1398.³
     In March 1366/67 he obtained the Tattershall estate through his wife.² He was created 1st Lord Cromwell [England by writ] on 28 December 1375.² He lived at Tattershall, Lincolnshire, England^G.¹

     Katherine Knyvett was born in 1564.³ She was the daughter of Sir Henry Knyvett and Elizabeth Stumpe.¹ She married, firstly, Richard Rich, son of Robert Rich, 2nd Baron Rich and Elizabeth Baldry.⁴ She married, secondly, Thomas Howard, 1st Earl of Suffolk, son of Thomas Howard, 4th Duke of Norfolk and Hon. Margaret Audley, circa 1583.⁴ She died in September 1633.⁴
     Her married name became Rich.⁴ From circa 1583, her married name became Howard. After her marriage, Katherine Knyvett was styled as Countess of Suffolk on 21 July 1603.

     Theophilus Howard, 2nd Earl of Suffolk was baptised on 13 August 1584.³ He was the son of Thomas Howard, 1st Earl of Suffolk and Katherine Knyvett.³ He married Lady Elizabeth Home, daughter of George Home, 1st and last Earl of Dunbar and Elizabeth Gordon, in March 1611/12.⁴ He died on 3 June 1640 at age 55.³
     He was educated at Magdalene College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Maldon between 1605 and 1610.¹ He held the office of Chancellor of the Colony of Virginia in 1609.¹ He succeeded as the 2nd Lord Howard de Walden [E., 1597] on 8 February 1609/10, in his father's lifetime.³ He held the office of Governor of Guernsey in March 1609/10.¹ He held the office of Captain of Gentlemen Pensioners between 1614 and 1619.¹ He held the office of Joint Lord-Lieutenant of Cumberland, Northumberland and Westmorland between 1614 and 1639.¹ He held the office of Joint Lord-Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire, Suffolk and Dorset between 1626 and 1640.¹ He succeeded as the 2nd Earl of Suffolk [E., 1603] on 28 May 1626.³ He was appointed Knight, Order of the Garter (K.G.) in 1627.¹ He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1628.¹ He held the office of Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports between 1628 and 1640.¹ He held the office of Constable of Dover Castle between 1628 and 1640.¹

     Maud de Bernake was the daughter of John de Bernake and Joan Marmion.^1,2 She married Ralph de Cromwell, 1st Lord Cromwell, son of Ralph de Cromwell and Anice de Bellers, before 20 June 1366.² She died on 10 April 1419.²

     Henry Howard was born between 1583 and 1626. He was the son of Thomas Howard, 1st Earl of Suffolk and Katherine Knyvett.¹ He married Elizabeth Basset, daughter of William Basset and Judith Austin.²

     Lady Catherine Howard was born between 1583 and 1595. She was the daughter of Thomas Howard, 1st Earl of Suffolk and Katherine Knyvett.¹ She married William Cecil, 2nd Earl of Salisbury, son of Robert Cecil, 1st Earl of Salisbury and Hon. Elizabeth Brooke, on 1 December 1608.¹ She died circa 24 January 1672/73.¹ She was buried on 27 January 1672/73.¹
     From 1 December 1608, her married name became Cecil. After her marriage, Lady Catherine Howard was styled as Countess of Salisbury on 24 May 1612. She was godmother for James Murray, 2nd Earl of Tullibardine at his baptism on 22 September 1617 at Cheshunt, Hertfordshire, England^G.²

     Lady Frances Howard was born on 31 May 1590. She was the daughter of Thomas Howard, 1st Earl of Suffolk and Katherine Knyvett.^1,3 She married, firstly, Robert Devereux, 3rd Earl of Essex, son of Robert Devereux, 2nd Earl of Essex and Frances Walsingham, on 5 January 1605/6.⁴ She and Robert Devereux, 3rd Earl of Essex were divorced in October 1613 on the trumped-up charge that he was impotent.⁴ She married, secondly, Robert Carr, 1st and last Earl of Somerset, son of Sir Thomas Kerr of Ferniehirst and Janet Scott, on 26 December 1613.⁴ She died on 23 August 1632 at age 42.³
     After her marriage, Lady Frances Howard was styled as Countess of Essex on 5 January 1605/6.¹ From 5 January 1605/6, her married name became Devereux. From 26 December 1613, her married name became Carr. After her marriage, Lady Frances Howard was styled as Countess of Somerset on 26 December 1613.

     John de Bernake married Joan Marmion, daughter of John Marmion, 2nd Baron Marmion and Maud de Furnivalle.²
     He lived at Tattershall, Lincolnshire, England^G.²
