     Elizabeth Sutherland, Countess of Sutherland was the daughter of John Sutherland, 8th Earl of Sutherland and Finvola Macdonald.1 She married Adam Gordon of Aboyne, son of George Gordon, 2nd Earl of Huntly and Lady Elizabeth Hay, circa 1500.2 She died in September 1535 at Aboyne Castle, Aberdeenshire, ScotlandG.1
     Her married name became Gordon. She succeeded as the 10th Countess of Sutherland [S., 1235] in July 1514.1 On 10 November 1527 she resigned the earldom in favour of her son, Alexander, but reserved teh life-rent for her herself and her husband.1

     Adam Gordon of Aboyne was the son of George Gordon, 2nd Earl of Huntly and Lady Elizabeth Hay.1,2 He married Elizabeth Sutherland, Countess of Sutherland, daughter of John Sutherland, 8th Earl of Sutherland and Finvola Macdonald, circa 1500.1 He died on 17 March 1537/38.3
     After his marriage, Adam Gordon of Aboyne was styled as Earl of Sutherland.1

     Alexander Gordon, Master of Sutherland was born circa 1501.2 He was the son of Adam Gordon of Aboyne and Elizabeth Sutherland, Countess of Sutherland.2 He married Lady Janet Stewart, daughter of John Stewart, 2nd Earl of Atholl and Lady Janet Campbell, circa 16 June 1520.1 He died on 15 January 1529/30.2
     He was styled as Master of Sutherland.2

     John Gordon, 11th Earl of Sutherland was born in 1525.1 He was the son of Alexander Gordon, Master of Sutherland and Lady Janet Stewart.2 He married, firstly, Lady Elizabeth Campbell, daughter of Colin Campbell, 3rd Earl of Argyll and Jean Gordon, from 21 November 1545 to 12 June 1546.1 He married, secondly, Lady Helen Stuart, daughter of John Stuart, 3rd Earl of Lennox and Lady Elizabeth Stewart, on 15 April 1549.1 He married, thirdly, Marion Seton, daughter of George Seton, 4th Lord Seton and Elizabeth Hay, after 1564.3 He died on 23 June 1567, from poison, along with his wife.
     John Gordon, 11th Earl of Sutherland also went by the nick-name of 'the Good Earl John'.1 He succeeded as the 11th Earl of Sutherland [S., 1235] in September 1535.1 He fought in the Battle of Pinkie in 1547.1 He held the office of a Lord of the Articles in 1558.1 He held the office of a Lord of the Congregation before January 1559/60.1 In 1562 he was implicated in the Earl of Huntly's rebellion, and his titles and estates forfeited.1 In 1565 he was pardoned.1 On 19 April 1567 the forfeiture was reversed.1 He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.4

     Alexander Gordon, 12th Earl of Sutherland was born circa June 1552.1 He was the son of John Gordon, 11th Earl of Sutherland and Lady Helen Stuart.1 He married, firstly, Lady Barbara Sinclair, daughter of George Sinclair, 4th Earl of Caithness and Lady Elizabeth Graham, circa 1567.1 He and Lady Barbara Sinclair were divorced on 30 June 1572.1 He married, secondly, Lady Jean Gordon, daughter of George Gordon, 4th Earl of Huntly and Elizabeth Keith, on 13 December 1573 at Strathbogie, ScotlandG.2 He died on 6 December 1594.1
     He succeeded as the 12th Earl of Sutherland [S., 1235] on 23 June 1567.1 On 18 March 1580/81 he made over the Earldom to his eldest son.1 On 23 March 1580/81 he obtained a regrant of the dignity from the Crown.1 In 1583 he swapped his Aboyne estate with the Earl of Huntly for that of Strathnaver.1 He held the office of Hereditary Sheriff of Inverness in 1589.1

Major Hon. Francis William White1

     Major Hon. Francis William White was born on 23 May 1873.1 He was the son of Luke White, 2nd Baron Annaly of Annaly and Rathcline and Emily Stuart.1 He married Anna Elizabeth Jaeger, daughter of C. Jaeger, on 14 July 1910.1 He died on 15 July 1931 at age 58.1
     He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches twice.1 He was temporary Major and Superintendant of the Remount Services in 1915.1 He gained the rank of Major in the General List.1 He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1919.1

     John Gordon, 13th Earl of Sutherland was born on 20 July 1576.1 He was the son of Alexander Gordon, 12th Earl of Sutherland and Lady Jean Gordon.1 He married Agnes Elphinstone, daughter of Alexander Elphinstone, 4th Lord Elphinstone and Jean Livingstone, on 1 February 1600.2 He died on 11 September 1615 at age 39.1
     He succeeded as the 13th Earl of Sutherland [S., 1235] on 6 December 1594.1 He surrendered the Hereditary Shrievalty and Earldom of Sutherland.1 On 29 April 1601 he was regranted the Hereditary Shrievalty and Earldom of Sutherland with special remainder to his brothers Robert and Alexander, and then to Adam, third son of the 1st Marquess of Huntly.1

     John Gordon, 14th Earl of Sutherland was born on 9 March 1609.1 He was the son of John Gordon, 13th Earl of Sutherland and Agnes Elphinstone.1 He married, firstly, Lady Jean Drummond, daughter of James Drummond, 1st Earl of Perth and Lady Isabel Seton, on 14 February 1632.2 He married, secondly, Anne Fraser, daughter of Hugh Fraser, 7th Lord (Fraser of) Lovat and Isabel Wemyss, on 24 January 1638/39.3 He died on 14 October 1679 at age 70.1
     He succeeded as the 14th Earl of Sutherland [S., 1235] on 11 September 1615.1 He was educated at Dornoch School, Scotland.1 He was educated at Edinburgh University, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.1 He was educated at St. Andrews University, St. Andrews, Fife, Scotland.1 In 1631 he was regranted the Hereditary Shrievalty of Sutherland.1 He was Covenanter in February 1637/38.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Scotland] in 1641.1 He held the office of Lord Privy Seal [Scotland] from March 1648/49 to 1651.1 On 21 February 1661/62 he obtained a regrant of the Earldom.1

     George Gordon, 15th Earl of Sutherland was born on 2 November 1633.1 He was the son of John Gordon, 14th Earl of Sutherland and Lady Jean Drummond.1 He married Jean Wemyss, daughter of David Wemyss, 2nd Earl of Wemyss and Hon. Anna Balfour, on 11 August 1659.2 He died on 4 March 1702/3 at age 69.2
     He held the office of Lord Privy Seal [Scotland] in 1656.1 He succeeded as the 15th Earl of Sutherland [S., 1235] on 14 October 1679.2 On 24 June 1681 he obtained a regrant of the Earldom, with special remainder to his son and in default to the heirs female of his son without division and their heirs male.1 He held the office of Commissioner of the Great Seal [Scotland] in 1689.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Scotland] in 1689.1
