Sir William Stirling Hamilton of Preston, 9th Bt. was born in 1788.1 He is the son of William Hamilton and Elizabeth Stirling.2 He married Janet Marshall, daughter of Hubert Marshall, in 1829.1
He succeeded as the 9th Baronet Hamilton, of Preston, co. Haddington [N.S., 1673] on 8 June 1799.1 He graduated from Balliol College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He was a practising Advocate in 1813.1 He lived in 1816 he was declared heir male to the 2nd Bt.1 He was Professor of Logic and Metaphysics at Edinburgh University, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.1 In 1834 he assumed the baronetcy.1

Captain Thomas Hamilton was born in 1789.2 He was the son of William Hamilton and Elizabeth Stirling.2 He married, firstly, Annette Campbell, daughter of Archibald Montgomery Campbell.2 He married, secondly, Maria Frances Geslip de Lautour, daughter of Joseph François Louis de Lautour, on 15 February 1834.1 He died in 1842, without issue.2
