     Sir John Hamilton of Fingaltoun is the son of Sir John Hamilton of Fingaltoun and unknown daughter Keith.² He married, secondly, Anna de Seton, daughter of Sir William de Seton and Janet Fleming.³ He married, firstly, Jane Lyddell, daughter of Sir James Lyddell.¹
     He fought in the Battle of Homildon Hill on 14 September 1402.¹

     Jane Lyddell is the daughter of Sir James Lyddell. She married Sir John Hamilton of Fingaltoun, son of Sir John Hamilton of Fingaltoun and unknown daughter Keith.¹
     Her married name became Hamilton.¹

     Sir Robert Hamilton of Fingalton and Preston married, firstly, Margaret Mowat, daughter of Sir John Mowat of Stonehouse.¹ He married, secondly, Marion Crighton, daughter of Sir David Crighton of Cranstonriddell.¹ He married, thirdly, Helen Schaw, daughter of Sir James Schaw of Sauchy, in 1516.¹

     Margaret Mowat is the daughter of Sir John Mowat of Stonehouse.² She married Sir Robert Hamilton of Fingalton and Preston.¹
     Her married name became Hamilton.

     Robert Hamilton of Fingalton and Preston is the son of Sir Robert Hamilton of Fingalton and Preston and Margaret Mowat.² He married Katherine Tweedie, daughter of James Tweedie of Drummeizier.¹

     Katherine Tweedie is the daughter of James Tweedie of Drummeizier.² She married Robert Hamilton of Fingalton and Preston, son of Sir Robert Hamilton of Fingalton and Preston and Margaret Mowat.¹
     Her married name became Hamilton.

     James Hamilton was the son of Robert Hamilton of Fingalton and Preston and Katherine Tweedie.² He died on 30 April 1523 at High Street, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland, killed in an encouter between feuding adherents of the Earls of Arran and Angus, without issue.¹

     Sir David Hamilton of Fingalton and Preston is the son of Robert Hamilton of Fingalton and Preston and Katherine Tweedie.² He married Janet Baillie, daughter of Sir William Baillie of Lamington.¹
     He was an early Protestant but fought for Mary, Queen of Scots.¹ He fought in the Battle of Langside in 1568.¹
