William Gavin Hamilton was born on 4 October 1874.1 He was the son of Thomas Hamilton and Helen Nutt.2 He married, firstly, Louise Cunningham, daughter of Alison Cunningham, on 23 February 1908.1 He married, secondly, Helen Mcphee, daughter of Dugald Stewart Mcphee, on 29 December 1916.1 He died on 10 December 1937 at age 63 at Castle Cary, Somerset, England, following a train crash.1
