Sir Tatton Benvenuto Mark Sykes, 6th Bt. was born on 16 March 1879.2 He was the son of Sir Tatton Sykes, 5th Bt. and Christina Anne Jessica Cavendish-Bentinck.2 He married Edith Violet Gorst, daughter of Rt. Hon. Sir John Eldon Gorst and Mary Elizabeth Moore, on 28 October 1903.2 He died on 16 February 1919 at age 39, from Spanish influenza.
Sir Tatton Benvenuto Mark Sykes, 6th Bt. usually went by his middle name of Mark.3 He gained the rank of Captain in the 3rd Battalion, Yorkshire Regiment.2 He fought in the Boer War in 1902, where he was mentioned in dispatches.2 He held the office of Private Secretary to the Chief Secretary of Ireland between 1904 and 1905.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Conservative) for Kingston-upon-Hull between 1911 and 1919.2 He succeeded as the 6th Baronet Sykes, of Sledmere, co. Yorks [G.B., 1783] on 4 May 1913.2 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the 4th Battalion, East Yorkshire Regiment.2 He fought in the First World War.2 In 1916 a founding member of the Aran Bureau, set up to reorganise teh Arab Revolt.2 He wrote the book Through Five Turkish Provinces.2 He wrote the book Five Mansions of Othman.2 He wrote the book Dur-ul-Islam.2 In 1917 he was a signatory to the Sykes-Picot Agreement.2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for the East Riding, Yorkshire.2 He wrote the book The Caliph's Last Heritage.2 He lived on 16 February 1919 Spanish 'flu.2
