Debonnaire John Monson, 8th Baron Monson of Burton was born on 7 March 1830.1 He was the son of William John Monson, 6th Baron Monson of Burton and Eliza Larken.1 He married Augusta Louisa Caroline Ellis, daughter of Lt.-Col. Hon. Augustus Frederick Ellis and Mary Frances Thurlow Cunynghame, on 25 December 1861.2 He died on 18 June 1900 at age 70.1
He gained the rank of Captain in the 52nd Regiment.1 He held the office of Comptroller of the Household to Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha.1 He held the office of Serjeant-at-Arms to HM Queen Victoria between 1873 and 1898.1 He was appointed Knight Commander, Royal Victorian Order (K.C.V.O.) in 1896.1 He succeeded as the 8th Baron Monson of Burton, co. Lincoln [G.B., 1728] on 16 April 1898.1 He succeeded as the 12th Baronet Monson, of Carlton [E., 1611] on 16 April 1898.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Kent.1

John Monson, 1st Baron Monson of Burton was born circa 1693.2 He was the son of George Monson and Anne Wren.2 He married Lady Margaret Watson, daughter of Lewis Watson, 1st Earl of Rockingham and Lady Catherine Sondes, on 8 April 1725.2 He died in 1748.
He was educated at Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Whig) for Lincoln between 1722 and 1728.2 He was appointed Knight, Order of the Bath (K.B.) in 1725.2 He succeeded as the 5th Baronet Monson, of Carlton [E., 1611] on 7 March 1727.2 He was created 1st Baron Monson of Burton, co.
