Sir Roger James Ferguson Chance, 3rd Bt. was born on 26 January 1893.2 He was the son of George Ferguson Chance and Mary Kathleen Stobart.3 He married Mary Georgina Rowney, daughter of Colonel William Rowney, on 12 April 1921.2 He died on 23 April 1987 at age 94 at Pwllheli, Gwynedd, Wales.2,4
He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.2 He fought in the First World War, where he was wounded twice and mentioned in despatches twice.2 He gained the rank of Captain and Adjutant in the 4th Royal Irish Dragoon Guards.2
