Ellen Katherine Webley Hope was born on 10 August 1907.1 She is the daughter of Admiral Herbert Willes Webley Hope and Katherine Maria Antoinette Kewley.2 She married, firstly, David William Heneker, son of General Sir William Charles Giffard Heneker, on 10 August 1929.1 She and David William Heneker were divorced in 1937.1 She married, secondly, Lt.-Col. Charles Vaughan King, son of Admiral Richard Matthew King and Milly Frances Beatrice Bewes, on 22 November 1941.1
