Sir John Floyd, 3rd Bt. was born on 31 July 1823.1 He was the son of Maj.-Gen. Sir Henry Floyd, 2nd Bt. and Mary Murray.2 He married Thomasine Harriot Shaw, daughter of Rt. Hon. Sir Frederick Shaw, 3rd Bt. and Thomasine Emily Jocelyn, on 10 June 1851.1 He died on 12 May 1909 at age 85, without issue.1
He gained the rank of Captain in the 3rd Buffs.1 He fought in the Crimean War.1 He gained the rank of Major in the 2nd Royal Lanarkshire Militia.1 He succeeded as the 3rd Baronet Floyd [U.K., 1816] on 4 March 1868.1
