Sir Alan Algernon Marion Durand, 3rd Bt. was born on 14 October 1893.1 He was the son of Colonel Sir Edward Law Durand, 1st Bt. and Maude Ellen Heber-Percy.2 He married, firstly, Vivien Enid Chamberlain, daughter of Herbert Chamberlain, on 5 February 1924.1 He and Vivien Enid Chamberlain were divorced in 1936.1 He married, secondly, Evelyn Sherbrooke Crane, daughter of Charles Anrold Crane, on 6 June 1944.1 He died on 16 February 1971 at age 77.1
He was educated at Cheltenham College, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, EnglandG.1 He was educated at Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, Kent, EnglandG, Cheltenham and RMA Woolwich.1 He gained the rank of 2nd Lieutenant in the Royal Artillery.1 He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches twice and was wounded twice.1 He gained the rank of Captain in 1917.1 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.) in 1919.1 He fought in the Second World War between 1939 and 1940, in Belgium and France.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in 1942.1 He gained the rank of Honorary Brigadier in the Royal Artillery.1 He succeeded as the 3rd Baronet Durand, of Ruckley Grange, Shropshire [U.K., 1892] on 4 March 1955.1 He held the office of Vice-Lord-Lieutenant of Gloucestershire between 1957 and 1971.1

Vivien Enid Chamberlain is the daughter of Herbert Chamberlain.2 She married Sir Alan Algernon Marion Durand, 3rd Bt., son of Colonel Sir Edward Law Durand, 1st Bt. and Maude Ellen Heber-Percy, on 5 February 1924.1 She and Sir Alan Algernon Marion Durand, 3rd Bt. were divorced in 1936.1

Patricia Marion Durand was born on 1 March 1925.1 She is the daughter of Sir Alan Algernon Marion Durand, 3rd Bt. and Vivien Enid Chamberlain.2 She married, firstly, W/Cdr. Howard Rex English Rumsey, son of Captain Reginald English Rumsey, on 14 June 1960.1 She married, secondly, Kenneth Alec James Booth on 26 June 1969.1 She married, thirdly, Lt.-Col. Miles Matthew Lee Hudson, son of Maj.-Gen. Charles Edward Hudson, V.C. and Gladys Lee, on 26 June 2001.2
