Charlotte Townsend is the daughter of Samuel Townsend and Charlotte Augusta Becher.2 She married Sir Francis Joseph Edward Spring, son of Reverend Edward Spring and Arabella Matilda Rudkin, in 1873.1

Sir Francis Joseph Edward Spring was born on 20 January 1849 at Magourney, County Cork, Ireland.2 He was the son of Reverend Edward Spring and Arabella Matilda Rudkin.2 He married Charlotte Townsend, daughter of Samuel Townsend and Charlotte Augusta Becher, in 1873.1 He died on 25 March 1933 at age 84.2
He was educated at Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland.2 He was with the Indian Civil Service in 1870.2 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Indian Empire (C.I.E.) in 1894.1 He held the office of Member of Legislative Council (M.L.C.) [Madras]2 He was chairman of the Madras Port Trust between 1904 and 1919.2 He held the office of Member of Legislative Council (M.L.C.) [India] between 1910 and 1913.2 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Indian Empire (K.C.I.E.) in 1911.2
