Sir Aston Cokayne, 1st and last Bt. was baptised on 20 December 1608.1 He was the son of Thomas Cokayne and Anne Stanhope.2 He married Mary Kniveton, daughter of Sir Gilbert Kniveton, 2nd Bt., before 1635.1 He died circa February 1683/84, without surviving male issue.1 He was buried on 18 February 1683/84.1
He was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG.1 He was a poet.1 He wrote the book Tragedy of Ovid.1 He was created 1st Baronet Cokayne, of Ashbourne Hall, co. Derby [England] on 10 January 1641/42.1 He was New Tag Ashbourne Hall, after getting into financial difficulties from its being sequestrated 1648 for his non-payment of fines as not only a royalist in the Civil War but as a papist in 1671.1 He lived at Ashbourne Hall, Derbyshire, EnglandG.1
