     Anne Stanhope was born circa February 1576.¹ She was the daughter of Sir Thomas Stanhope and Margaret Port.¹ She married John Holles, 1st Earl of Clare, son of Denzill Holles and Eleanor Sheffield, on 23 May 1591 at Shelford, Nottinghamshire, England^G.¹ She died on 18 November 1651 at Piazza, Covent Garden, London, England^G.¹ She was buried on 22 December 1651 at St. Mary's Church, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, England^G.² Her will (dated 5 November 1651) was proven (by probate) on 26 November 1651.²
     From 23 May 1591, her married name became Holles.¹ After her marriage, Anne Stanhope was styled as Baroness Houghton of Houghton on 9 July 1616. After her marriage, Anne Stanhope was styled as Countess of Clare on 2 November 1624.

     Jessie Campbell Douglas was born circa 1861 at Kersal, London, England.² She was the daughter of General Sir Robert Percy Douglas, 4th Bt. and Louisa Lang.¹ She married Berkeley Portman, son of Hon. Maurice Berkeley Portman and Helen Vidal Harris, on 6 February 1883.³ She died on 5 November 1946.⁴
     From 6 February 1883, her married name became Portman.¹

     Margaret Port was the daughter of Sir John Port.¹ She married Sir Thomas Stanhope, son of Sir Michael Stanhope and Ann Rawson.² She died between March 1613 and April 1613.³
     Her married name became Stanhope.²

     Sir John Port is the son of Sir John Port. He married Dorothy Fitzherbert, daughter of Sir Anthony FitzHerbert and Mathilda Cotton.²

     Sir William Pennington, 1st Bt. was baptised on 16 March 1655 at Muncaster, Cumberland, England^G.¹ He was the son of Joseph Pennington and Margaret Fleetwood.¹ He married Isabel Stapleton, daughter of John Stapleton and Elizabeth Lawson, before 1677.¹ He died on 12 July 1730 at age 75 at Wartre, Yorkshire, England^G.^1,2
     He was created 1st Baronet Pennington, of Muncaster, co. Cumberland [England] on 21 June 1676.¹ He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Cumberland in 1686.³ He held the office of Vice Admiral of Cumberland and Westmorland in 1710.³

     Isabel Stapleton was the daughter of John Stapleton and Elizabeth Lawson.¹ She married Sir William Pennington, 1st Bt., son of Joseph Pennington and Margaret Fleetwood, before 1677.¹ She died circa April 1687.¹
     From before 1677, her married name became Pennington.¹

     John Stapleton married Elizabeth Lawson, daughter of Sir Wilfrid Lawson, 1st Bt. and Jane Musgrave.¹

     Sir Wilfrid Lawson, 1st Bt. was born circa 1611.² He was the son of William Lawson and Judith Bewley. He married Jane Musgrave, daughter of Sir Edward Musgrave, 1st Bt. and Mary Graham.² He died on 13 December 1688.²
     He was appointed Knight on 26 February 1641. He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Cumberland from 1659 to 1660. He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Cockermouth in 1661. He was created 1st Baronet Lawson, of Isell [England] on 31 March 1688.¹

     Joseph Pennington was the son of William Pennington and Catherine Sherborne.^2,3 He married Margaret Fleetwood, daughter of John Fleetwood.³ He died in 1659.¹
