Admiral Sir Herbert Edward Purey-Cust was born on 26 February 1857.1 He was the son of Very Rev. Arthur Perceval Purey-Cust and Lady Emma Bess Bligh.1 He married Alice Ella Hepburn, daughter of George Stuart Hepburn, on 29 May 1895.1 He died on 11 November 1938 at age 81.1
