William Chaplin was born on 6 November 1781.2 He was the son of Acton Chaplin and Anne Sherriff.2 He married Emma Frankland, daughter of Roger Frankland and Catharine Colville, on 16 October 1820 at St. Thomas Church, Bombay, IndiaG.2 He died on 8 August 1843 at age 61 at 10 de la rue Basse du Rempart, Paris, France.3
