     Sir Ferdinando Leigh lived at Middleton, Leeds, Yorkshire, England.¹

     Sir John Campbell of Glenorchy, 4th Bt. was born circa 1615.¹ He was the son of Sir Robert Campbell of Glenorchy, 3rd Bt. and Isabel Macintosh.¹ He married, thirdly, Christian Muschet, daughter of John Muschet.¹ He married, secondly, Elizabeth Campbell, daughter of Patrick Dow More Campbell of Edinchip.² He married, firstly, Lady Mary Graham, daughter of William Graham, 7th Earl of Menteith and Agnes Gray, before 1635.¹ He died before June 1677.¹
     He was Commissioner of Supply and Excise for Argyll and Perth.² He succeeded as the 4th Baronet Campbell, of Glenorchy, co. Perth [N.S., 1625] after 1647.¹ He gained the rank of Colonel in the Perthshire of Foot.² He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Argyllshire [Scotland] between 1661 and 1663.¹

     Lady Mary Graham was the daughter of William Graham, 7th Earl of Menteith and Agnes Gray.¹ She married Sir John Campbell of Glenorchy, 4th Bt., son of Sir Robert Campbell of Glenorchy, 3rd Bt. and Isabel Macintosh, before 1635.¹ She died on 28 January 1653.²
     From before 1635, her married name became Campbell.¹

     Christian Muschet was the daughter of John Muschet.¹ She married Sir John Campbell of Glenorchy, 4th Bt., son of Sir Robert Campbell of Glenorchy, 3rd Bt. and Isabel Macintosh.¹ She died in 1697.²
     Her married name became Campbell.¹

     John Muschet lived at Craighead, Menteith, Scotland^G.¹

     John Campbell of Glenorchy, 1st Earl of Breadalbane and Holland was born circa 1635.¹ He was the son of Sir John Campbell of Glenorchy, 4th Bt. and Lady Mary Graham.¹ He married, firstly, Lady Mary Rich, daughter of Henry Rich, 1st Earl of Holland and Isabel Cope, on 17 December 1657 at St. Andrew's Wardrobe, London, England^G.¹ He married, secondly, Lady Mary Campbell, daughter of Archibald Campbell, 1st Marquess of Argyll and Lady Margaret Douglas, on 7 April 1678.² He died on 19 March 1717.² He was buried on 28 March 1717.²
     Circa 1654 he took an active part in the rising for King Charles II.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Argyllshire [Scotland] between 1669 and 1674.¹ He succeeded as the 5th Baronet Campbell, of Glenorchy, co. Perth [N.S., 1625] before June 1677.¹ He was created 1st Viscount of Breadalbane [Scotland] on 28 June 1677.³ He was created 1st Earl of Caithness [Scotland] on 28 June 1677, as he was owed over a million marks by George Sinclair, Earl of Caithness, and obtained the reversion of this title after the Earl's death 'upon gross and false misrepresentations.³' He was created Lord St. Clair of Berriedale and Glenurchy [Scotland] on 28 June 1677.³ He resigned as Earl of Caithness, Viscount of Breadalbane and Lord St. Clair of Berriedale and Glenurchy in 1681 after it was held that George Sinclair, heir of the previous Earl of Caithness, was entitled to these titles.³ He was created 1st Earl Breadalbane and Holland [Scotland] on 13 August 1681, with a special remainder to allow him to appoint any of his sons of his first wife as his successor.¹ He was created 1st Viscount of Tay and Paintland [Scotland] on 13 August 1681.³ He was created 1st Lord Glenurchy, Benederaloch, Ormelie and Weick [Scotland] on 13 August 1681.⁴ He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Scotland] in 1685.⁴ He and Mildred Littler were associated after 1691.² He held the office of Lord of the Treasury [Scotland] between 1692 and 1696.² After 10 June 1695 he was imprisoned for high treason after the massacre at Glencoe, but after he explained that he only supported the Stuart cause in the Highlands so he could betray them, he was released without a trial.² He held the office of Representative Peer [Scotland] between 1713 and 1715.² In 1715 he sent 500 men to join the Uprising, but escaped punishment for this.²
     Macky said that "it is odds, if he lives long enough, but he is a Duke. He is of fair complexion and has the gravity of a Spaniard, is as cunning as a Fox, wise as a Serpent and as slippery as an Eel."² Macaulay wrote that he "seems to united two different sets of vices ... Among the hills he had learned the barbarian pride and ferocity of a Highland chief. In the Council chamber he had contracted the deep taint of treachery and corruption ... Nobody who knew him could trust him... The depths of this man's knavery were unfathomable."² He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.⁵
     

     Duncan Campbell, Lord Ormelie was born circa 1660.¹ He was the son of John Campbell of Glenorchy, 1st Earl of Breadalbane and Holland and Lady Mary Rich.¹ He died on 5 January 1727, without issue.^1,2
     He was styled as Lord Ormelie between 1681 and 1727.¹ On 14 July 1685 he was passed over in his father's nomination as successor, owing to his 'incapacity.³'

     Lady Mary Campbell was born after 1634. She was the daughter of Archibald Campbell, 1st Marquess of Argyll and Lady Margaret Douglas.¹ She married, firstly, George Sinclair, 6th Earl of Caithness, son of John Sinclair, Master of Berriedale and Lady Jean Mackenzie, on 22 September 1657 at Roseneath, Dunbartonshire, Scotland^G.² She married, secondly, John Campbell of Glenorchy, 1st Earl of Breadalbane and Holland, son of Sir John Campbell of Glenorchy, 4th Bt. and Lady Mary Graham, on 7 April 1678.¹ She died on 4 February 1690/91.¹
     After her marriage, Lady Mary Campbell was styled as Countess of Caithness on 22 September 1657. From 22 September 1657, her married name became Sinclair. From 7 April 1678, her married name became Mary Campbell. After her marriage, Lady Mary Campbell was styled as Countess of Breadalbane and Holland on 13 August 1681.

     George Sinclair, 6th Earl of Caithness was the son of John Sinclair, Master of Berriedale and Lady Jean Mackenzie.² He married Lady Mary Campbell, daughter of Archibald Campbell, 1st Marquess of Argyll and Lady Margaret Douglas, on 22 September 1657 at Roseneath, Dunbartonshire, Scotland^G.³ He died in May 1676 at Thurso Castle, Thurso, Caithness, Scotland^G, without issue.³
     He succeeded as the 6th Earl of Caithness [S., 1455] in February 1642/43.⁴ On 21 March 1644 he was served heir to the Earldom of Caithness.³ In 1672 he was heavily in debt to Sir John campbell of Glenorchy, and so granted him a lien on the lands and title of the Earldom of Caithness which the latter could take up in six years on his rights to them becoming absolute. However it was subsequently to be invalid to transfer the title, and Sir John was cmpensated with the Earldom of Breadalbane.⁵

     Mildred Littler died in 1746.¹
     She and John Campbell of Glenorchy, 1st Earl of Breadalbane and Holland were associated after 1691.¹
