Joan Margaret Backhouse was the daughter of Admiral Sir Roger Roland Charles Backhouse and Dora Louise Findlay.1 She married Lieutenant Archibald Norman Macpherson, son of Lt.-Col. Archibald Duncan Macpherson, on 8 January 1944.1 She died on 2 June 2008.2

Miles Roland Charles Backhouse was born on 24 November 1878.2 He was the son of Sir Jonathan Edmund Backhouse, 1st Bt. and Florence Salusbury-Trelawny.2 He married Olive Buxton, daughter of Lt.-Col. Geoffrey Fowell Buxton and Mary Harbord, on 14 September 1904.2 He died on 15 May 1962 at age 83.2
