     Elizabeth Stirling was born on 24 August 1822.¹ She was the daughter of Archibald Stirling, 14th of Keir and 11th of Cadder and Elizabeth Maxwell.¹ She was baptised on 11 September 1822 at Barony, Lanarkshire, Scotland^G.¹

     Frances Maxwell was born on 24 March 1772 at Eastwood, Renfrewshire, Scotland^G.¹ She was the daughter of Sir James Maxwell of Auldhouse, 6th Bt. and Frances Colhoun.¹ She married John Cuninghame, 13th of Craigends, son of William Cuninghame, 10th of Craigends and Margaret Cuninghame, before 1797.² She died on 10 May 1797 at age 25, without issue.²
     From before 1797, her married name became Cuninghame.²
