Reverend William Legard was the son of Sir Digby Legard, 5th Bt. and Jane Cartwright.2 He married Cecilia Elizabeth Oldershaw, daughter of James Oldershaw, on 7 February 1803.1 He died on 1 February 1826.1

Captain James Anlaby Legard was born on 13 October 1805.1 He was the son of Reverend William Legard and Cecilia Elizabeth Oldershaw.2 He married Katherine Cayley, daughter of Sir George Cayley, 6th Bt. and Sarah Walker, on 6 May 1845.1 He died on 25 June 1869 at age 63.1
