Clotworthy Upton was born on 6 January 1665.2 He was the son of Arthur Upton and Dorothy Beresford.2 He married, thirdly, Jane Ormsby, daughter of John Ormsby.1 He married, firstly, Mary Boyle, daughter of Roger Boyle, 2nd Earl of Orrery and Lady Mary Sackville.3 He married, secondly, Margaret Stewart, daughter of William Stewart.3 He died on 6 June 1725 at age 60.2
In 1690 he raised a party of men and joined the standard of William III at the Siege of Limerick, where he was taken prisoner although nearly all of his men were cut to pieces.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for County Antrim.2 He lived at Castle Upton, Templepatrick, County Antrim, IrelandG.1
