He was given the name of Watkin Williams at birth.1 He was educated at Jesus College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Denbighshire between 1716 and 1749.1 On 7 January 1718/19 his name was legally changed to Watkin Williams-Wynn on inheriting the Wynnstay and other estates from his mother's cousin, Sir John Wynn, 5th Bt.2 He held the office of Mayor of Oswestry in 1728.2 He held the office of Mayor of Chester in 1732.2 He acquired Llwydiarth and Llangedwin through his first wife.2 He succeeded as the 3rd Baronet Williams, of Wynnstay, co. Denbigh [E., 1688] in October 1740.2

Frances Shakerley was born in 1717.1 She was the daughter of George Shakerley and Anne Bagot.2 She married Sir Watkin Williams-Wynn, 3rd Bt., son of Sir William Williams, 2nd Bt. and Jane Thelwall, on 19 July 1748.1 She died on 19 April 1803.1
