Sir Kenneth Raymond Pelly was born on 9 November 1893.1 He was the son of Herbert Cecil Pelly and Mary Richenda Carter.2 He married Elspeth Norna Grant, daughter of Robert Campbell Grant, on 15 October 1919.1 He died on 30 September 1973 at age 79.1
He was educated at Charterhouse School, Godalming, Surrey, EnglandG.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Army Service Corps.1 He fought in the First World War.1 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.)1 He was President of the Chamber of Shipping between 1956 and 1957.1 He was chairman of Lloyd's Register of Shipping between 1957 and 1963.1 He was appointed Knight in 1961.1
