     Major William James Pinney was born on 10 June 1931.2,3 He was the son of Colonel George Ambrose Pinney and Silvia Crawford.1,3 He married Violet Essex Cholmondeley, daughter of Brig.-Gen. Hugh Cecil Cholmondeley and Violet Maud Parker, on 23 May 1964.1 He died on 18 July 2010 at age 79.2
     Major William James Pinney usually went by his middle name of James.1 He gained the rank of Major in the 11th Hussars.1
