Robert Fergusson Franks was born on 22 March 1807.2 He was the son of Matthew Franks and Mary Fergusson.2 He married Henrietta Bushe, daughter of Rt. Hon. Charles Kendal Bushe, on 24 February 1834.2 He died on 13 January 1888 at age 80.2

Captain Robert Norman Bland was born on 8 October 1859.2 He was the son of Maj.-Gen. Edward Loftus Bland and Emma Frances Franks.1 He married Laura Shelford, daughter of Thomas Shelford, on 18 September 1895.2 He died on 30 March 1948 at age 88.2
He was educated at Cheltenham College, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, EnglandG.2 He graduated from Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, IrelandG, with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)2 He was employed by the Straits Settlements Civil Service in 1882.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the Singapore Volunteer Infantry.2 He held the office of Treasurer in 1901.1 He wrote the book The Historical Tombstones of Malacca, and other works.2 He was Resident Councillor of Malacca in 1905.2 He was Resident Councillor of Penang between 1907 and 1910, when he retired.2 He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1910.1 He lived at Brown Gable, Crawley Down, Sussex, EnglandG.1
