     Walter Riddell of Minto was born circa 1620.² He was the son of Walter Riddell of Newhouse.² He married, firstly, Catherine Nisbet, daughter of Sir Patrick Nisbet and Jean Arthur, on 30 September 1652 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.² He married, secondly, Isobell Riddell, daughter of James Riddell of Kinglass and Elizabeth Foulis, circa 1667.² He died in 1684 at Minto, Roxburghshire, Scotland.²
     He purchased Minto in 1676 at Minto, Roxburghshire, Scotland^G.^1,2

     Catherine Nisbet was born on 8 May 1623 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.² She was the daughter of Sir Patrick Nisbet and Jean Arthur.^1,2 She married Walter Riddell of Minto, son of Walter Riddell of Newhouse, on 30 September 1652 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.² She died between 1665 and 1668.²
     From 30 September 1652, her married name became Riddell.²

     Sir Patrick Nisbet married Jean Arthur.²
     He lived at Eastbank, Scotland^G.¹

     Sir Robert Laurie of Maxwelton, 2nd Bt. was born on 21 July 1675.^1,2 He was the son of Sir Robert Laurie of Maxwelton, 1st Bt. and Jean Riddell.¹ He died on 28 February 1702 at age 26, from a fall from his horse, unmarried.^1,2
     He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Laurie, of Maxwelton, co. Dumfries [N.S., 1685] in April 1698.¹

     Jean Nisbet is the daughter of Sir John Patrick Nisbet of Dean.² She married Sir Walter Laurie of Maxwelton, 3rd Bt., son of Sir Robert Laurie of Maxwelton, 1st Bt. and Jean Riddell, in April 1708.¹
     From April 1708, her married name became Laurie.¹

     Annie Laurie was born on 16 December 1682.¹ She was the daughter of Sir Robert Laurie of Maxwelton, 1st Bt. and Jean Riddell.¹ She married Alexander Fergusson, 14th of Craigdarroch, son of Lt.-Col. John Fergusson, 13th of Craigdarroch and Elizabeth McGhie, on 29 August 1710.^1,3 She died on 1 April 1764 at age 81 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.⁴
     From 29 August 1710, her married name became Fergusson.¹

     Alexander Fergusson, 14th of Craigdarroch was born on 3 November 1685.³ He was the son of Lt.-Col. John Fergusson, 13th of Craigdarroch and Elizabeth McGhie.³ He married Annie Laurie, daughter of Sir Robert Laurie of Maxwelton, 1st Bt. and Jean Riddell, on 29 August 1710.^4,3 He died on 8 March 1749 at age 63.²
     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Dumfries Burghs between 1715 and 1722.⁴ He lived at Craigdarroch, Scotland^G.⁴

     Sir Robert Laurie of Maxwelton, 4th Bt. was the son of Sir Walter Laurie of Maxwelton, 3rd Bt. and Jean Nisbet.^1,2 He married Christian Erskine, daughter of Charles Erskine of Alva, Lord Tinwald and Grizel Grierson, on 4 February 1733.¹ He died on 28 April 1779 at Maxwelton, Dumfries-shire, Scotland^G.¹
     He succeeded as the 4th Baronet Laurie, of Maxwelton, co. Dumfries [N.S., 1685] on 23 November 1731.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Dumfries Burghs between 1738 and 1741.¹

     Christian Erskine was born on 20 December 1715.¹ She was the daughter of Charles Erskine of Alva, Lord Tinwald and Grizel Grierson.¹ She married Sir Robert Laurie of Maxwelton, 4th Bt., son of Sir Walter Laurie of Maxwelton, 3rd Bt. and Jean Nisbet, on 4 February 1733.¹ She died on 21 August 1755 at age 39 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland^G.¹
     From 4 February 1733, her married name became Laurie.¹

     Grizel Grierson married Charles Erskine of Alva, Lord Tinwald, son of Sir Charles Erskine of Alva, 1st Bt. and Christian Dundas, on 21 December 1712.^1,2
     She was the heiress of Barjarg, Dumfries-shire.¹ From 21 December 1712, her married name became Erskine.
