     Jean Roger was born circa 1711.¹ She married George Playfair, son of James Playfair and Janet Roger.¹ She died in 1804.¹

     George Playfair was born on 4 January 1782.² He was the son of Reverend James Playfair and Margaret Lyon.¹ He married Janet Ross, daughter of John Ross, on 8 November 1814.² He died on 26 November 1846 at age 64.²
     He graduated from St. Andrews University, St. Andrews, Fife, Scotland^G, with a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.)² He was Chief Inspector General of Hospitals at Bengal, India^G.²

     Colonel William Davidson Playfair was born circa 1783.¹ He was the son of Reverend James Playfair and Margaret Lyon.¹ He married Ann Ross, daughter of John Ross and Janet Ranken, on 3 November 1812.² He died in 1852.¹
     He gained the rank of Colonel in the Indian Army.¹

     Linda Elliott was born on 1 May 1908.² She married John Grace Cookman, son of Nathaniel George Cookman and L. K. T. (?), in 1969 at Weston super Mare, Somerset, England.^1,2 She died in 1980.¹
     From 1969, her married name became Cookman.¹

     John Grace Cookman is the son of Edward Rogers Cookman.¹ He married Barbara Evangeline Clifford, daughter of Edward J. Clifford and Frances Jane Mary Anne McAllister, in 1886 at St. Matthias Church, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland.²

     Sir Hugh Lyon Playfair was born on 20 February 1787.¹ He was the son of Reverend James Playfair and Margaret Lyon.¹ He married Jane Dalgelish, daughter of William Dalgelish, on 10 July 1809.¹ He died on 19 January 1861 at age 73.¹
     He was educated at St. Andrews University, St. Andrews, Fife, Scotland^G.¹ He was commissioned in 1804, in the service of the Bengal Horse Artillery.¹ He retired from the military in 1834.¹ He was the Provost between 1842 and 1861 at St. Andrews University, St. Andrews, Fife, Scotland^G.¹ He was appointed Knight Bachelor in 1856.¹ He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Law (LL.D.) by St. Andrews University, St. Andrews, Fife, Scotland^G, in 1856.¹ He revived the Roal and Ancient Golf Club at St. Andrews.¹

     Jane Dalgelish is the daughter of William Dalgelish.¹ She married Sir Hugh Lyon Playfair, son of Reverend James Playfair and Margaret Lyon, on 10 July 1809.¹
     From 10 July 1809, her married name became Playfair.¹
