     John Cathcart is the son of Hugh Cathcart and Grizel Agnew.¹

     unknown daughter Broun is the daughter of Sir Patrick Broun of Colstoun, 1st Bt.¹ She married Sir Hugh Cathcart, 1st Bt., son of Hugh Cathcart and Grizel Agnew, in 1695.¹
     From 1695, her married name became Cathcart.¹

     Sir John Cathcart, 2nd Bt. was the son of Sir Hugh Cathcart, 1st Bt. and unknown daughter Broun.¹ He married, firstly, Katherine Dundas, daughter of Robert Dundas, Lord Arniston and Margaret Sinclair, on 6 July 1717.¹ He married, secondly, Elizabeth Kennedy, daughter of Sir John Kennedy of Culzean, 2nd Bt. and Jean Douglas, on 30 May 1729.¹ He died between September 1746 and 1765.¹
     He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Cathcart, of Carleton, co. Ayr [N.S., 1704] in March 1723.¹

     Katherine Dundas is the daughter of Robert Dundas, Lord Arniston and Margaret Sinclair.¹ She married Sir John Cathcart, 2nd Bt., son of Sir Hugh Cathcart, 1st Bt. and unknown daughter Broun, on 6 July 1717.¹
     From 6 July 1717, her married name became Cathcart.¹

     Ann Pilcher is the daughter of Sir Charles Dennis Pilcher.¹ She married Lawrence Hepburn McGill in 1963.¹
     From 1963, her married name became McGill.¹

     Elizabeth Kennedy is the daughter of Sir John Kennedy of Culzean, 2nd Bt. and Jean Douglas.¹ She married Sir John Cathcart, 2nd Bt., son of Sir Hugh Cathcart, 1st Bt. and unknown daughter Broun, on 30 May 1729.¹
     From 30 May 1729, her married name became Cathcart.¹

     Sir John Cathcart, 3rd Bt. was born circa 1735.¹ He was the son of Sir John Cathcart, 2nd Bt. and Elizabeth Kennedy.¹ He married Margaret Hamilton, daughter of Robert Hamilton and Jean Mitchell, on 24 December 1764.¹ He died in March 1783, without issue.¹
     He succeeded as the 3rd Baronet Cathcart, of Carleton, co. Ayr [N.S., 1704] before 1765.¹

     Margaret Hamilton was born circa 1744.¹ She was the daughter of Robert Hamilton and Jean Mitchell.^1,2 She married Sir John Cathcart, 3rd Bt., son of Sir John Cathcart, 2nd Bt. and Elizabeth Kennedy, on 24 December 1764.¹ She died on 25 April 1817.¹
     From 24 December 1764, her married name became Cathcart.¹

     Jonathan Alexei Victor Prinz zu Bentheim und Steinfurt was born on 24 December 2008 at Munster, Germany. He is the son of Carl Ferdinand Prinz zu Bentheim und Steinfurt and Elna-Margret Rinn.

     Lt.-Col. Sir Andrew Cathcart, 4th Bt. was born circa 1742.¹ He was the son of Sir John Cathcart, 2nd Bt. and Elizabeth Kennedy.¹ He died in 1828.¹ His will was proven (by probate) in August 1828.¹
     He succeeded as the 4th Baronet Cathcart, of Carleton, co. Ayr [N.S., 1704] in March 1783.¹ In 1792 he claimed the Culzean estates of his maternal uncle, Earl of Cassillis, but only received the estates settled on Sir John Kennedy, 3rd Bt.¹
