Rt. Hon. Lt.-Gen. Sir Frederick Adam was born on 17 June 1784.2 He was the son of Rt. Hon. William Adam of Blair and Hon. Eleanor Elphinstone.2 He married, firstly, Amelia Thompson, daughter of Stephen Thompson, on 20 July 1811.2 He married, secondly, Diamantina Palatiano on 23 June 1820.2 He married, thirdly, Ann Lindsay Maberly, daughter of John Maberly and Ann Baillie, on 24 July 1851 at Kensington, London, EnglandG.3 He died on 17 August 1853 at age 69.2
He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.) on 2 July 1815.2 He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of St. Michael and St. George (G.C.M.G.) on 21 December 1821.1 He held the office of Lord High Commissioner of the Ionian Islands in 1824.2 He held the office of Governor of Madras in 1832.2 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1835.1 He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of the Bath (G.C.B.) on 20 June 1840.1
