     He gained the rank of officer in the 72nd Highlanders.1 He fought in the Indian Mutiny in 1857.1 He fought in the capture of Kotah on 30 March 1858.1 He fought in the Battle of Bunas.1

     Sir Richard Betenson, 1st Bt. was born circa 1602.1 He was the son of Richard Betenson.1 He married Anne Monins, daughter of Sir William Monins, 1st Bt. and Jane Twisden, before 1627.1 He died on 29 August 1679.1 He was buried at Chislehurst, Kent, EnglandG.1 His will was proven (by probate) on 23 September 1679.1
     He was admitted to Lincoln's Inn on 21 November 1621.1 He was appointed Knight on 28 February 1624/25.1 He held the office of Sheriff of Surrey from 1645 to 1646.1 He was created 1st Baronet Betenson, of Wimbeldon, co.
