John Howe, 1st Lord Chedworth, Baron of Chedworth was the son of Rt. Hon. John Grubham Howe and Mary Baskerville.2 He married Dorothy Thynne, daughter of Henry Frederick Thynne and Dorothy Philips.1 He died on 3 April 1742.3 He was buried at Withington, Gloucestershire, EnglandG.3 His will was proven (by probate) on 24 May 1742.4
He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Whig) for Gloucester between February 1727 and July 1727.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Whig) for Wiltshire in 1729.2 On 3 July 1730 he succeeded to his cousin, Sir Richard Howe, Bt., inheriting estates at Compton, Gloucestershire and Wishford, Wiltshire.2 He held the office of Recorder of Warwick between 1737 and 1741.2 His last will was dated 14 February 1740/41. He was created 1st Lord Chedworth, Baron of Chedworth, co. Gloucester [Great Britain] on 12 May 1741.2
