     John Bateman, 2nd Viscount Bateman was born in April 1721.¹ He was the son of William Bateman, 1st Viscount Bateman and Lady Anne Spencer.¹ He married Elizabeth Sambrooke, daughter of John Sambrooke and Elizabeth Forester, on 2 July 1748 at St. Anne's, Soho, London, England^G.² He died on 2 March 1802 at age 80 at Shobdon Court, Herefordshire, England^G, without issue.¹ His will (dated 24 May 1784 to 28 June 1800) was proven (by probate) on 15 April 1802.¹
     He succeeded as the 2nd Viscount Bateman [I., 1725] in December 1744.¹ He succeeded as the 2nd Baron Culmore, co. Londonderry [I., 1725] in December 1744.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Whig) for Orford from 1746 to 1747.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Tory) for Leominster between 1768 and 1784.¹

     Elizabeth Sambrooke was born circa 1725.¹ She was the daughter of John Sambrooke and Elizabeth Forester.¹ She married John Bateman, 2nd Viscount Bateman, son of William Bateman, 1st Viscount Bateman and Lady Anne Spencer, on 2 July 1748 at St. Anne's, Soho, London, England^G.¹ She died on 20 December 1802 at Argyle Street, London, England^G.¹ Her will was proven (by probate) on 12 January 1803, when she bequeated £5,000 per year to her nephew, Charles Sackville, Duke of Dorset.¹
     After her marriage, Elizabeth Sambrooke was styled as Viscountess Bateman on 2 July 1748. From 2 July 1748, her married name became Bateman.¹

     Elizabeth Forester is the daughter of Sir William Forester and Lady Mary Cecil.¹ She married John Sambrooke, son of Sir Jeremy Sambrooke and Judith Vanacker, in 1717.²
     From 1717, her married name became Sambrooke.
