     Lady Mary Matilda Georgiana Howard was the daughter of George Howard, 6th Earl of Carlisle and Lady Georgiana Dorothy Cavendish.² She married Henry Labouchere, 1st and last Baron Taunton, son of Pierre César Labouchère and Dorothy Elizabeth Baring, on 13 July 1852.¹ She died on 17 September 1892.¹
     From 13 July 1852, her married name became Labouchere.³

     Hon. Rosalind Frances Stanley was born on 20 February 1845 at Grosvenor Crescent, London, England^G.² She was the daughter of Edward John Stanley, 2nd Baron Stanley of Alderley and Hon. Henrietta Maria Dillon-Lee.³ She married George James Howard, 9th Earl of Carlisle, son of Hon. Charles Wentworth George Howard and Mary Priscilla Harriet Parke, on 4 October 1864 at Alderley, Cheshire, England^G.² She died on 12 August 1921 at age 76 at Kensington Palace Gardens, Kensington, London, England^G.⁴ She was buried on 18 August 1921 at Lanercost Abbey, England.⁴ Her will was proven (by probate) in April 1922, at £180,406 gross and £106,902 net.⁴
     Hon. Rosalind Frances Stanley also went by the nick-name of 'Radical Rosalind'. From 4 October 1864, her married name became Howard. After her marriage, Hon. Rosalind Frances Stanley was styled as Countess of Carlisle on 29 March 1889.
     She was an illiberal liberal, a feminist and staunch teetotaller.

     Charles James Stanley Howard, 10th Earl of Carlisle was born on 8 March 1867 at 122 Park Street, London, England^G.¹ He was the son of George James Howard, 9th Earl of Carlisle and Hon.      Rhoda Ankaret L'Estrange was born on 28 May 1867 at Bundoran, County Donegal, Ireland^G.² She was the daughter of Colonel Paget Walter L'Estrange and Emily Ryves.^3,2 She married Charles James Stanley Howard, 10th Earl of Carlisle, son of George James Howard, 9th Earl of Carlisle and Hon. Rosalind Frances Stanley, on 17 April 1894 at Muncaster, Yorkshire, England^G.² She died on 9 December 1957 at age 90.¹
     Her married name became Howard. After her marriage, Rhoda Ankaret L'Estrange was styled as Countess of Carlisle on 16 April 1911.

     Lt.-Cdr. George Josslyn L'Estrange Howard, 11th Earl of Carlisle was born on 6 January 1895.¹ He was the son of Charles James Stanley Howard, 10th Earl of Carlisle and Rhoda Ankaret L'Estrange.² He married, firstly, Bridget Helen Hore-Ruthven, Lady Ruthven of Freeland, daughter of Maj.-Gen. Walter Patrick Hore-Ruthven, 10th Lord Ruthven of Freeland and Jean Leslie Lampson, on 17 January 1918.¹ He and Bridget Helen Hore-Ruthven, Lady Ruthven of Freeland were divorced in 1947.¹ He married, secondly, Esmé Mary Iredell, daughter of Dr. Charles Edward Iredell, on 15 August 1947.¹ He died on 17 February 1963 at age 68.¹
     He succeeded as the 11th Baron Dacre of Gillesland, Cumberland [E., 1661] on 20 January 1912.¹ He succeeded as the 11th Earl of Carlisle [E., 1661] on 20 January 1912.¹ He succeeded as the 11th Viscount Howard of Morpeth, Northumberland [E., 1661] on 20 January 1912.¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Commander in the Royal Navy.¹ He fought in the First World War.¹ He was awarded the Croix de Guerre.¹

     Bridget Helen Hore-Ruthven, Lady Ruthven of Freeland was born on 27 July 1896.³ She was the daughter of Maj.-Gen. Walter Patrick Hore-Ruthven, 10th Lord Ruthven of Freeland and Jean Leslie Lampson.³ She married, firstly, Lt.-Cdr. George Josslyn L'Estrange Howard, 11th Earl of Carlisle, son of Charles James Stanley Howard, 10th Earl of Carlisle and Rhoda Ankaret L'Estrange, on 17 January 1918.¹ She and Lt.-Cdr. George Josslyn L'Estrange Howard, 11th Earl of Carlisle were divorced in 1947.¹ She married, secondly, Walter Turner Monckton, 1st Viscount Monckton of Brenchley, son of Frank William Monckton and Dora Constance Golding, on 13 August 1947.⁴ She died on 17 April 1982 at age 85.⁴
     Bridget Helen Hore-Ruthven, Lady Ruthven of Freeland also went by the nick-name of Biddy. From 17 January 1918, her married name became Howard. She was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.)³ She was Senior Controller of Auxiliary Territorial Service and Director of WACI, during the Second World War.³ From 13 August 1947, her married name became Monckton. She succeeded as the 11th Lady Ruthven of Freeland [S., 1651] on 6 April 1956.¹ After her marriage, Bridget Helen Hore-Ruthven, Lady Ruthven of Freeland was styled as Viscountess Monckton of Brenchley on 11 February 1957.

     Charles James Ruthven Howard, 12th Earl of Carlisle was born on 21 February 1923 at 64 Pont Street, Chelsea, London, England^G.³ He was the son of Lt.-Cdr. George Josslyn L'Estrange Howard, 11th Earl of Carlisle and Bridget Helen Hore-Ruthven, Lady Ruthven of Freeland.⁴ He was baptised on 29 April 1923 at Lanercost Abbey, England.³ He married Hon. Ela Hilda Aline Beaumont, daughter of Wentworth Henry Canning Beaumont, 2nd Viscount Allendale and Violet Lucy Emily Seely, on 3 October 1945.¹ He died on 28 November 1994 at age 71.⁵

He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England^G.⁵ He fought in the Second World War between 1942 and 1945, in the Rifle Brigade, where he was severely wounded, losing a leg.⁵ He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.) in 1945.⁵ He succeeded as the 12th Viscount Howard of Morpeth, Northumberland [E., 1661] on 17 February 1963.⁵ He succeeded as the 12th Earl of Carlisle [E., 1661] on 17 February 1963.⁵ He succeeded as the 12th Baron Dacre of Gillesland, Cumberland [E., 1661] on 17 February 1963.⁵ He was a Forestry Commissioner between 1965 and 1988.⁵ He was appointed Fellow, Chartered Land Agents' Society (F.L.A.S.)⁵ He succeeded as the 12th Lord Ruthven of Freeland [S., 1651] on 17 April 1982.³

     Esmé Mary Iredell was the daughter of Dr. Charles Edward Iredell.¹ She married, secondly, Lt.-Cdr. George Josslyn L'Estrange Howard, 11th Earl of Carlisle, son of Charles James Stanley Howard, 10th Earl of Carlisle and Rhoda Ankaret L'Estrange, on 15 August 1947.¹ She died on 4 June 1997.¹
     Her married name became Shrubb.² From 15 August 1947, her married name became Howard. After her marriage, Esmé Mary Iredell was styled as Countess of Carlisle on 15 August 1947.

     Hon. Ela Hilda Aline Beaumont was born on 27 May 1925.¹ She was the daughter of Wentworth Henry Canning Beaumont, 2nd Viscount Allendale and Violet Lucy Emily Seely.¹ She married Charles James Ruthven Howard, 12th Earl of Carlisle, son of Lt.-Cdr. George Josslyn L'Estrange Howard, 11th Earl of Carlisle and Bridget Helen Hore-Ruthven, Lady Ruthven of Freeland, on 3 October 1945.¹ She died on 18 February 2002 at age 76.²
     She was appointed Officer, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (O.St.J.)¹ Her married name became Howard. After her marriage, Hon. Ela Hilda Aline Beaumont was styled as Countess of Carlisle on 17 February 1963. She lived in 1999 at Naworth Castle, Brampton, Cumberland, England^G.¹

     George William Beaumont Howard, 13th Earl of Carlisle was born on 15 February 1949.¹ He is the son of Charles James Ruthven Howard, 12th Earl of Carlisle and Hon. Ela Hilda Aline Beaumont.²
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England^G.¹ He graduated from Balliol College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)¹ He gained the rank of Major before 1987 in the 9th/12th Royal Lancers.¹ In 1987 he unsuccessfully contested the 1987 general election as the Liberal Alliance candidate for Easingtonand.¹ In 1989 he unsuccessfully contested the European parliamentary election as a Liberal Democrat candidate for Northumbria.¹ He succeeded as the 13th Lord Ruthven of Freeland [S., 1651] on 28 November 1994.² He succeeded as the 13th Viscount Howard of Morpeth, Northumberland [E., 1661] on 28 November 1994.¹ He succeeded as the 13th Earl of Carlisle [E., 1661] on 28 November 1994.¹ He succeeded as the 13th Baron Dacre of Gillesland, Cumberland [E., 1661] on 28 November 1994.¹ In 2011 he unsuccessfully stood as a candidate to the House of Lords as an elected Hereditary Peer.³
