     Field Marshal FitzRoy James Henry Somerset, 1st Baron Raglan was born on 30 September 1788.3 He was the son of Henry Somerset, 5th Duke of Beaufort and Elizabeth Boscawen.4 He married Lady Emily Harriet Wellesley-Pole, daughter of William Wellesley-Pole, 3rd Earl of Mornington and Katherine Elizabeth Forbes, on 13 March 1814.1 He was also reported to have been married on 6 August 1814.3 He died on 28 June 1855 at age 66 at Crimea, RussiaG, of cholera while on campaign.3
     He was educated at Westminster School, Westminster, London, EnglandG.3 He gained the rank of Cornet in 1804 in the 4th Light Dragoons.3 He was Aide-de-Camp and Military Secretary to the 1st Duke of Wellington in Peninsular War (present Orthes and Toulouse, gold medal and two clasps for Salamanca and Badjoz, Peninsula medal and five clasps for Ciudad Rodrigo, Busaco, Talavera, Vimiera) in 1811.3 He was appointed Lieutenant in 1811 4th Light Dragoons.3 He gained the rank of Brevet Lieutenant-Colonel in 1812.3 He gained the rank of Captain and Lieutenant-Colonel in 1814 in the 1st Foot Guards.3 He was a secretary at the Embassy between 1814 and 1815 at Paris, France.3 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.) in 1815.3 He was Colonel and Aide-de-Camp to Prince Regent (later HM George IV) between 1815 and 1822.3 He was Chargé d'Affaires      between January 1815 and March 1815.3 He was a secretary at the Embassy between 1815 and 1818 at Paris, France.3 He fought in the Battle of Waterloo on 18 June 1815, he lost an arm.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) Monmouth [U.K.] on 11 October 1852.3 He was appointed Knight, Order of the Tower and Sword of Portugal (K.T.S.)3 He gained the rank of General in 1854.3 He gained the rank of Field Marshal following the Battle of Inkerman (which he won against the Russians), along with The Alma 20 September 1854, as Commander-in-Chief to the U.K. Forces at Crimea) on 5 November 1854.3

     Lady Priscilla Anne Wellesley-Pole was the daughter of William Wellesley-Pole, 3rd Earl of Mornington and Katherine Elizabeth Forbes.3 She married General John Fane, 11th Earl of Westmorland, son of John Fane, 10th Earl of Westmorland and Sarah Anne Child, on 26 June 1811.1 She died on 18 February 1879.1
     From 26 June 1811, her married name became Fane. After her marriage, Lady Priscilla Anne Wellesley-Pole was styled as Countess of Westmorland on 15 December 1841.

     General John Fane, 11th Earl of Westmorland was born on 2 February 1784 at Sackville Street, Piccadilly, London, EnglandG.3 He was the son of John Fane, 10th Earl of Westmorland and Sarah Anne Child.4 He married Lady Priscilla Anne Wellesley-Pole, daughter of William Wellesley-Pole, 3rd Earl of Mornington and Katherine Elizabeth Forbes, on 26 June 1811.1 He died on 16 October 1859 at age 75.4
     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Lyme Regis between 1806 and 1816.4 He was Extra Aide-de-Camp to the Duke of Wellington during the Peninsular Wars.4 He fought in the Battle of Talavera.4 He fought in the Battle of Busaco.4 He held the office of Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary to Florence between 1814 and 1830.4 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1815.4 He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Hanoverian Order (G.C.H.) in 1817.4 In 1823 founder and president of the Royal Academy of Music.4 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.) in 1838.4 He held the office of Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary to Prussia in 1841.4 He succeeded as the 11th Baron Burghersh, co. Sussex [E., 1624] on 15 December 1841.4 He succeeded as the 11th Earl of Westmorland [E., 1624] on 15 December 1841.1 He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of the Bath (G.C.B.) in 1846.4 He held the office of Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary to Vienna in 1851.4 He gained the rank of General in 1854.4 He was awarded the Grand Cross, Order of Leopold of Belgium.4 He was special Plenipotentiary to the Vienna Conference in 1855.4 He had one other daughter.4 He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.5

     Rev. Hon. Gerald Valerian Wellesley was born on 7 December 1770.1 He was the son of Garret Wesley, 1st Earl of Mornington and Hon. Anne Hill.3 He was born on 7 December 1771 at Dangan Castle, County Meath, IrelandG.4 He married Lady Emily Maud Cadogan, daughter of Charles Sloane Cadogan, 1st Earl Cadogan and Mary Churchill, on 2 June 1802.1 He died on 24 October 1848 at age 77.1
     He was given the name of Gerald Valerian Wesley at birth. He was the Rector at Chelsea, London, EnglandG.1 He was Prebendary of Durham.1 In March 1798 his name was legally changed to Gerald Valerian Wellesley.1 He graduated with a Doctor of Divinity (D.D.)1 He held the office of Chaplain of the Royal Household.1

     Lady Emily Maud Cadogan was born on 26 May 1773 at Plas Newydd, Anglesey, WalesG.2 She was the daughter of Charles Sloane Cadogan, 1st Earl Cadogan and Mary Churchill.3 She married Rev. Hon. Gerald Valerian Wellesley, son of Garret Wesley, 1st Earl of Mornington and Hon. Anne Hill, on 2 June 1802.1 She died on 22 December 1839 at age 66.1
     From 2 June 1802, her married name became Wellesley.

     Charles Sloane Cadogan, 1st Earl Cadogan was born on 29 September 1728 at St. George Hanover Square, London, EnglandG.2 He was the son of General Charles Cadogan, 2nd Baron Cadogan of Oakley and Elizabeth Sloane.3 He married, firstly, Hon. Frances Bromley, daughter of Henry Bromley, 1st Baron Montfort and Francis Wyndham, on 30 May 1747 at St. George's Church, St. George Street, Hanover Square, London, EnglandG.2 He and Hon. Frances Bromley were divorced in 1768. He married, secondly, Mary Churchill, daughter of Colonel Charles Churchill and Lady Maria Walpole, on 10 May 1777.4 He and Mary Churchill were divorced in 1796 on the grounds of criminal conversion with a Reverend Cooper.2 He died on 3 April 1807 at age 78 at Santon Downham, Suffolk, EnglandG.2 His will was proven (by probate) in May 1807.2
     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Whig) for Cambridge between 1749 and 1754.4 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Whig) for Cambridge between 1755 and 1776.4 He held the office of Keeper of the Privy Purse in 1756, to Prince Edward of Wales.2 He held the office of Master of the Mint between 1769 and 1784.4 He succeeded as the 3rd Baron Cadogan of Oakley, co. Buckingham [G.B., 1718] on 24 September 1776.4 He sold the Caversham estate to a Major Marsac.2 He was created 1st Earl Cadogan [Great Britain] on 27 December 1800.1 He was created 1st Viscount Chelsea, co. Middlesex [Great Britain] on 27 December 1800.4

     From 1 November 1849, her married name became Wellesley.
