     He was created 1st Baronet Cooper, of Hursley Park, Hursley, Hampshire [U.K.] on 26 July 1905.¹ He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Morayshire.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Morayshire.¹ He held the office of High Sheriff of Hampshire in 1908.¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the 6th Battalion, Seaforth Highlanders.¹ He was awarded the Royal Officers' Decoration (V.D.)¹

     Mary Emma Smith was the daughter of George S. Smith.¹ She married Sir George Alexander Cooper, 1st Bt., son of Alexander Cooper and Anne Phebe Jenkins, on 2 April 1887.¹ She died on 28 May 1948.¹
     From 2 April 1887, her married name became Cooper.¹ She was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1920.¹
