     Catherine Brereton was the daughter of William Brereton.1 She married Ralph Assheton, son of Sir Richard Assheton and Mary Holt, on 10 August 1621.1 She died circa 27 April 1687.1
     From 10 August 1621, her married name became Assheton.1

     From 23 April 1724, her married name became Assheton.1

     Thomas Assheton was baptised on 30 September 1678.1 He was the son of Thomas Assheton and Lucy Leigh.1 He married Harriet Theodosia Smith, daughter of Rt. Hon. John Smith and Anne Strickland, on 23 April 1724.1 He died circa 6 July 1759.1
     He lived at Ashley, Bowdon, Cheshire, England.1

     Thomas Assheton-Smith was baptised on 26 June 1725.1 He was the son of Thomas Assheton and Harriet Theodosia Smith.1 He married Mary (?)1 He died on 16 April 1774 at age 48.1
     He was given the name of Thomas Assheton at birth.1 In 1774 his name was legally changed to Thomas Assheton-Smith at the death of his maternal uncle, William Smith.1

William Assheton-Smith1

     William Assheton-Smith was the son of Thomas Assheton-Smith and Elizabeth Wynn.1 He died on 16 January 1806, lost at sea while attempting to save life.1
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Royal Navy, on board H.M.S. Temeraire.1 He fought in the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805.1
