Sir Basil Dixwell, 1st and last Bt. was born on 27 December 1585.1 He was the son of Charles Dixwell and Abigail Herdson.1 He died on 28 December 1642 at age 57, unmarried.1
In 1622 he succeeded his uncle to the Terlingham estate.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Hythe in 1626.1 He held the office of Sheriff of Kent from 1626 to 1627.1 He was appointed Knight on 18 February 1628.1 He was created 1st Baronet Dixwell [England] on 18 February 1628.1 On his death, his baronetcy became extinct.1
