Sir Peter Arthur Halkett of Pitferrane, 8th Bt. was born on 1 May 1834.1 He was the son of Sir John Halkett of Pitferrane, 7th Bt. and Amelia Hood Conway.1 He married Eliza Anna Hill, daughter of Richard Kirwan Hill and Jane Margaret Halkett, on 6 May 1856.1 He died on 8 March 1904 at age 69, without surviving male issue.1
He was educated at Cheltenham College, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England.1 He succeeded as the 8th Baronet Halkett, of Pitferrane [N.S., 1697] on 5 August 1847.1 He gained the rank of Ensign in 1851 in the 81st Foot.1 He gained the rank of Ensign in 1853 in the 42nd Foot.1 He fought in the Crimean War.1 He gained the rank of Captain in 1855.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Fifeshire.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Fifeshire.1 On his death, his baronetcy became extinct.1
